I have heard of such a thing (Tony and Tina's Wedding) but I'm not sure how it works. Does the audience go up onstage or is such a show not in a theater?

Well Tony and Tina's wedding is actually in a church and then in a hotel reception hall. The audience are the guests. While the actors play bride groom ect.

Havent heard of that exact one, but I heard in most is that they have the beggining start with lines, and then audience calls out ways to change the scene.

The only one I've seen is Tony and Tina's wedding. Like Just_john said, the audience is the guests. They get dinner and everything. Sometimes the cast will come and talk to you.

I've done many interactive children's theatre shows and the way it works is that the characters will get in some sort of trouble and need the childrens help.

Ex. "Can you hide me from the witch? Don't tell her where I am . . . "

"You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view - until you climb into his skin and walk around in it."

Tony and Tina's Wedding is alot of fun. I don't know if it's my preferred evening of theatre, but it's definitely an experience.

I believe that the majority of the show is scripted (certain lines are said each night and certain things happen every night- though the way the actors get to that point might be different), but the actors often adlib and interact with the audience.

There isn't really a stage, but the altar of the church is raised and the dance floor is often "center stage" at the reception. Scripted actions might take place on the dance floor while other characters go around to the tables and adlib with the audience.

I might add that the production in Chicago has really good food! re: 'Interactive' Theater

So, that was the Drowsy Chaperone. Oh, I love it so much. I know it's not a perfect show...but it does what a musical is supposed to do. It takes you to another world, and it gives you a little tune to carry with you in your head for when you're feeling blue. Ya know?
