Into The Woods Revival

Is the cast recording worth getting? I have the original and listened to it only occutionally, but I recently got the DVD and now I am head over heals for this show. LOVE the girl who plays Little Red Riding Hood. How does the revival compare? I've never heard it and no really nothing about it except I see it all the time when I buy CDs.

I would get the London cast recording before the revival...That said, I greatly enjoyed the revival, and would recommend it, if you enjoy the show.

Go to Barnes & Noble, grab the CD, go to one of those scanner thingys and listen to it. You can preview it there.

Preview should also be at Amazon.com.

I enjoy it. It just depends how much you love the show. Original is better if you ask me.

I would get the revival over the london recording. I thought the vocals on the london cast recording sucked. There are even some memebers of the revival who are better then their original counterparts.

OBC is the best.

The revival is blashemous to the show.

Get the one with Bernadette, Gleason, and Zien.

I have the OBC and the London recording.....and I love them both, but may lean a bit more to the London cast, until I watch my DVD, and then I lean back to the OBC........
I never bought the revival....

Agreed. Keep OBC. I like London's "Our Little World" better than Revival's. Revival is good for "No One is Alone" and I think that's it. Oh, except for "Giants in the Sky." MUCH better than OBC recording.

Gotcha. Ok, yes, that was mean. At least he was cute on PICKET FENCES, right? Oh, way off topic, but the horrendous "Jack's Mother" from Revival- she in SIDEWAYS? Think she is the main guy's mother. Revival = really, really, really just not good.

I honestly liked the OBC version of "Giants in the Sky" over the revival. I just preferred the orignal Jack over the revival one, even though he was good too. I say the OBC...mainly because of Bernadette and Chip Zien.

I adore the revival CD. I never got to see the show and while I love Bernadette's performance on the DVD I have a secret crush on Vanessa Williams and I love her in anything so I listen to the revival CD constantly ... spider woman too! get kiss of the spider woman while your at it...

I love the revival version myself. Although the OBC is damn cute, I watched the video of it.

TOTALLY get the revival over the London cast...it's just strange, with british accents.... "theh aw giunts iin the skuhye" (not too well phonetically notated but, I tried)

They divided the entire Prologue into several different tracks on the London recording, didn't they? I heard the Witch's Entrance..and I must say-I was not impressed at all. Bernadette's the best. I did like Our Little World on London though...I like how clear the revival CD is. It was refreshing to hear after listening to OBC 24/7 for about 10 months..

the London CD does indeed divide the entire prologue into nine different tracks, which is kind of strange, but then I guess it's more convenient, as it is a long opening number and that way you can just jump to a section if you don't want to listen to the whole thing...

and I forgot to mention that the revival CD has the American premiere recording of "Our Little World" which is another plus over the original...
