Following the 3pm showing of Into the Woods today in Westport, Joanna Gleason and Chip Zien joined Danielle Ferland on stage to share stories about the musical. New things I learned--
During the tryout, an poisoned apple rolled on stage--the Baker's Wife picks it up--eats it off stage, and that is how she died
They also mentioned that the Narrator is actually the Baker and his Wife's son now grown-- telling the story as it was told to him by the Baker at the end of the show--
Is this news to anyone else?
that's news to me! but i don't pretend to be an expert on the show by any means. that's very interesting insight into the narrator. doesn't quite jive with the new production this summer, but it's cool to think about.
VERY interesting about the narrator!!! I've never heard that before at all.
It also doesn't make a whole lot of sense during the scene where the Narrator interacts with the characters. It would all get very Back to the Future-esque.

Right, so the Baker and his wife are in a time warp where they watch their son get destroyed by a giant?
Makes sense to me.
