Irish Rep's The Emperor Jones to return

Irish Rep is remounting the Emperor Jones by Eugene O'Neil. I believe previews begin the first or second week of March. I am very proud of this piece! Sort of a self promo here. Shill if you will. Got to design all the apparitions and Hunts. It is actually more revelevant in todays political clime then when we put it up 8 years ago! Imagine, A self proclaimed Emperor's slow descent into madness.

Is John Douglas Thompson doing it again? That was the first time I saw him on stage and I was blown away by his performance. That production was gorgeous.

British actor Obi Abili is playing Jones. John Douglas Thompson is busy at the moment with Jitney.

Yeah John Douglas Thompson, when asked awhile back to reprise the role, sort of said "Been there done that." I have been too busy Dusting off, repairing and rebuilding to sit in on a rehearsal. However from what I am hearing, Mr Abili is going to knock it out of the park as well.

That's good to hear. I will definitely revisit this production again. 

 

I loved Thompson in Jitney too and was hoping to see him again in something else this spring.

Saw it 2 weeks ago. Enjoyed it overall but found Abil's performance to be exhausting, and not always in a good way., after his character is in the woods. He was literally dripping sweat.
