Is 526 shows a lucky number or something?!

Just thought this was kinda funny and random...

even though it's an excellent show and I wish it another 526 performances :)

I think 526 means it beat the record of the longest-running play in the last five years of Broadway. I'm assuming the previous longest-running play was 525!

I do think it's funny, though. Kind of like Les Mis' twenty-first anniversary. Why's that one so special, because now Les Mis is old enough to drink?

I can't remember the name of the play, but the longest running play ran for much more than 525 performances. I wish I could remember what the name of it was!!! I'll look it up, but it ran over 1,000 performances. Dang, I will look it up!

It is a strange oversight, though, to write a news article about the show reaching 526 performances without giving a reason.

Oh, okay, Tale of the Allergists Wife and Proof both closed more than five years ago, but both ran a bit longer than August or Doubt.

In the past five years, no show has run longer than August.

August has performed more shows than Doubt.

OK - so when it plays its 526th performance tomorrow, no other play will have run longer since Proof ended its run in 2003 with 917 performances. That makes more sense to me.

Les Miserables' 21st Anniversary in London marked it become the "World's Longest Running Musical"! That's ...sort of a big deal last time I checked...??

The problem is that they are somewhat misrepresenting the numbers. That 526 number is including the 18 previews that August had. Doubt ran for 25 previews and 525 official performances. So August really has about 2.5 weeks of performances left to go before it can legitimately lay claim to this somewhat non-sensical achievement.
