Beautiful is one of the long runners that I never had the chance to hit up. I was just wanting to gage opinions, and ask is it worth seeing?
Not really, IMO. It's an amazing star vehicle for the role of Carole King, but the book was a little sloppy and it felt bland overall. Unless you're a diehard Carole King fan, there's much more interesting theatre to see.
You're not missing much by skipping it, imo, unless you love Carole King. It's very much like sitting through a review of her songs(here's this song! Now this one, you know this one!). If you want to see it, by all means have a great time, but if you only have so much time in the city and could take it or leave it, I'd leave it.
I haven't seen it on Broadway since the original cast and then, I would have said yes. Jessie Mueller and Annika Larsen were fabulous and the cast had great chemistry. I saw the tour last winter and it was okay. I liked Ben Fankhauser, but it wasn't a can't miss experience.
Are you a big Carole King fan? If so, go see it. I'd even wait a bit and say go see it when Kara Lindsey joins as Cynthia Weil (even though Sara King is a great performer). Are you not a Carole King fan? You can probably skip it and if you desire to explore Carole more, pick up one her great albums.

I haven't seen the Broadway production, but did catch the tour when it came to Seattle. I loved the show so much, I wanted to go back the next day and see it again. I haven't had that good of a time at the theatre in a long time. The story was well put together, and it was awesome seeing Carole's life story and seeing her transform from a young lady to a star.
If you love her music and you're a person who can fall head over heels for a jukebox musical, then yes. Otherwise no.
Zzzzzzzz.
It had the depth of a bad "love boat" episode. Predictable and boring.

I saw it on tour last year with Abby Mueller (Jessie's sister). It was pleasant enough, basically a dull version of Jersey Boys with Carole King music. (King must be a more interesting person than portrayed in the musical.) Your interest in the show will depend on how much you like jukebox musicals. I know people who really enjoyed it, and I didn't hate it. It's a light night out at the theater, and sometimes that's just fine.
It's my favorite jukebox musical, aside from PRISCILLA, QUEEN OF THE DESERT. It's like JERSEY BOYS but more fun.

Saw it about 3 weeks after Jessie mueller won the tony for it and it was definitely a good show and story, especially if you really enjoy her music and songs featured in it you'll love it.

I guess I'm in the minority. I actually really enjoyed it when I saw it. It certainly doesn't reinvent the wheel or anything bit it's a really enjoyable show filled with a lot of well known songs that are great to sing and hum along to.
I found the entire show to be incredibly boring.
"it's a really enjoyable show filled with a lot of well known songs that are great to sing and hum along to"...
...after the show is over when you're listening to the cast recording on your .mp3 player.
There, fixed that for you. :)
The book is often cheaply old-hat, but the show has so much joy in it, and so audaciously embraces and runs with its cliche schmaltz and schematic structure, that many find it utterly irresistible - I'm one of those people.
