Probably not. But with five much anticipated shows in the 2008 NY International Fringe Festival, it's sure to be a hit.
The Johnny musical answers the question:
What happened to the bullying blonde jock in all those beloved '80s movies AFTER he lost to the scrappy young underdog?
Drawing on inspirations such as The Karate Kid and Back to School, The Johnny musical tells a completely new story that begins just as those nerd-defeats-bully stories are ending.

You know, it is annoying when these "shills" post information about their shows, especially if they sound desperate, but I don't really see anything wrong with this post.
What's wrong with someone promoting a show if they can at least sound intelligent about it? Often for these smaller shows, marketing people have to resort to posting stuff on theatre message boards such as this one. It's not like this poster is creating 10,000 threads about the show and just being plain annoying about it. What happened to people being more supportive to some of these smaller shows?

Now there's a topic the world has been waiting for. I can only imagine the level of mind that would write and promote this worthless junk.

I didn't know you could call it worthless junk when you haven't even seen it yet and it doesn't premiere until today. I'll keep that in mind, though, when judging shows before they open.
And learn to spell LiZa's name.

Dearie, the promotional materials say it all. If the banal subject matter is not enough to get you running in the opposite direction, then I'm sure it's the perfect show for you and an obvious meeting of the minds.

Is any one seeing it this week? It sounds like it could be hit or miss.

Yeah, you're right that it sounds like a very weird storyline. But, I'm sorry, unless you have actually seen the show, I don't see why you should judge anyone's hard work as "worthless crap."
Call me when you write and direct your own show.

Enchanted, here's some other concepts that ended up being "worthless crap" -
a musical about a man-eating plant based on a B movie
a musical about a murderous barber based on a penny dreadful
a musical about a spelling bee
a musical about a musical lover who sits and listens to musicals in his apartment.
Oh, please...none of these ideas are even worth exploring.

How about a musical that penalizes people for peeing without paying the fee?
The fact that it won Best Book should mean nothing...

It doesn't sound too bad. I actually commented to my wife a few months ago while watching The Karate Kid on TV, "I never noticed that Johnny congratulates Daniel after the crane kick. Maybe he's not such a bad guy."
I'm not sure where the emotional trajectory of this particular show takes him, but it's at least mildly intriguing. That having been said, it's not the deepest possible story to delve into and I fear it's probably a bit campy for my taste, but for the Fringe Festival it sounds like a show I'd give a shot.
By the way, your artwork is great. I knew exactly what the show was about the second I looked at it.

So? This show apparently has been announced for some time now. This is how smaller shows tend to market themselves. They need to build up word of mouth among the hardcore theater fans. I see people make posts all the time about their events and cabarets...so why does this bother people so much?
