I was under the impression Evan Hansen was fairly divisive in reaction to it.  At any rate, I don't think there is a clear front runner at this time, and anything could happen. Nice change from last year.

And OK Queen Alice. Put all your money on Come From Away. We'll see how that goes. Updated On: 11/4/16 at 12:51 PM

Come From Away will not find an audience that can sustain it financially. it's an incoming flop.

I fear the same will be true of In Transit.  Personally, I haven't seen anything about it that looks compelling.  Even the artwork looks like it would get ignored as an MTA ad, or at best, the sort of 90s generic Off-Broadway show that's a hit with tourists on TKTS.

It's hard to imagine Tony Voters standing on such principle - and voting is quite a long way off.

It will be very interesting to see how critics respond to this show - I personally believe that rave reviews would "raise the bar" in terms of immersive productions and creative staging beyond the proscenium.  If, on the other hand, critics turn up their noses at creative / spectacular staging then Tony voters would likely be inclined to follow their lead.  If a production such as "Comet" is viewed as a new standard, then creative teams will need to move in a different direction.

Of course, Rocky tried some different things, but was K/O'd.

In summary, if "Comet" is "dead" Tony wise it will be because Tony voters were not moved by the immersive production to overlook other details like plot and score, which - personally - were not my favorite.  Perhaps I'm just too "old school."
