Just curious, a breakdown was released looking for a future replacement for only the role of "Melchior". What's the scoop?

No, the release was for a "temporary" understudy for Melchior. Not a replacement. And temporary. And will probably cover other roles, also.

That indeed may be the case, but I have a copy of the breakdown and there is no mention of "temporary" or "understudy". It says in capital letters... SEEKING A FUTURE REPLACEMENT FOR: Anyhow, was just wondering if he is possibly leaving for another project. Or maybe, you just know for certain that it's temporary and/or for an understudy position.
FUTURE is the keyword. If he is leaving, I's suspect it wouldn't be until AFTER the Tonys.
He may have a project in the wings...future does not mean tomorrow...they may just want their asses covered.
but, Melchior's ass isn't supposed to be covered...
Word on the street is that Groff is gonna throw his hat in the presidential ring as a Democrat. That will officially make the list of candidates 400,001,075 names long.

hahaha, that was really good CATSNY *g*
and actually, kgallo was just saying that they talked to both jon groff and johnny gallagher after the show last night and they both said they fully intend to stay until they are kicked out! so I think it's just fine, no worries :P
In an interview, he said that he plans not to leave for a long time.
snl89...you beat me to it!!
Thanks!
yah, to back up what bigbill was saying.. jonathan has made it quite clear in person and several interviews that he doesn't plan on leaving anytime soon, and that he wishes to stay for as long as he can, or until he gets too old and they 'kick him out.' haha, what a guy.
and i say amen to that!
=D <333

Yes, he is leaving on Tuesday.
I'm hoping he pulls an idina, wins the Tony, and stays for another season :)
i find it kind of strange that you just said pulls an idina...

is this show planning on running for a while? I still only see it pulling in 45,000 more than its operating costs per week. do people think this show is really going to run? Just wondering.
It isn't like Idina Menzel did something rare that few performers do...he could be pulling a John Lloyd Young or a Christian Hoff or a Victoria Clark.

That's pretty good...when you think about the time of the year and compare it with other shows that are just losing money.
where is the info about them looking for an understudy for him posted?
Is Jonathan Groff going to be in it still early August? I'm trying to get Spring Awakening tickets on-stage seats this summer. When is he contracted until?
They are all there until AT LEAST November.
Thanks!
im pretty sure some of the younger cast memembers might go to school this fall

If the show runs a long time, will they still be playing teens into their 30s? Instead of getting pregnant, Wendla can get menopause.
