They should have a discount where the percent off the full ticket price is equal to the age of the actor playing Peter Pan... the tickets would be almost free... hehehe
I saw this production a few months ago and trust me . . . Cathy Rigby's still got it! She was great in the part and brought so much warmth, energy and fun to the role that her age really doesn't matter.
The meat is always leaner on somebody else's dinner plate!
I'm sorry, but this old woman dressed like a little boy is just sad and pathetic. It's a BOY! And all the makeup and hair and costuming doesn't take away from how ridiculous she looks dressed up like one. A guy needs to play this role. It's just creepy and weird at this point. I saw this when I was a kid and it was so confusing and ruined for me because they had a woman in drag. Peter Pan should never be played by a girl again. It's an outdated casting rule that they should be ashamed of.
I was not auditioning haha. I was just a kid who had a show completely ruined because they thought we were too young to tell the difference between a young boy and a middle aged woman.
I've never been there, but isn't that theatre kind of not a theatre at all?
It's actually a horrible venue, but it's huge. If you're not in the first section, it feels like the show is taking place in a totally different world.
As far as Rigby's suitability for the role...I saw her the last time the tour rolled through NYC, and she was spectacular. I can't wait to go back again.
