Yes, the Broadway version of "The Wiz" was actually more faithful to the Baum book than the MGM film.

And they do have all four witches.

To AllofMyLife: I LOVE that comment of yours concerning Katharine Harris. She is EVIL incarnate. We shall NEVER forget! from Roman in Austin, Texas...

"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)

I kept thinking about The Wiz too. All four witches who all have a song. Except for the dead one.

In my opinion, Glinda just multitasks and takes care of the North and South.

And of course, in the Baum book, the Wicked Witches were not sisters, purely an invention by the MGM writers to give a Dorothy a "threat" during her journey across OZ and provide more of a through-line to what is a very episodoc book.
