I am considering signing up for the TDF membership, I qualify and I realize there is a 25 dollar fee.
Is anyone a member, can you tell me how this actually works and if it is worth the 25 bucks?
Thanks!
It's worth it.
Yes, definitely. They have good shows, and the tickets are usually around $30.
Thanks for your opinion, how much the the tickets usually cost? And how far in advance can you buy them?
EDIT: sorry for all the questions, but is there usually a good variety of Broadway shows available?

They cost around $30, I don't think ever more than $36. And you never know hor far in advance they just pop up randomly.
If you go to TDF.org you can see the current list of shows they have.
ETA: You can't pick your seats..but they're usually good, and worth it for the price.

yes. For me, it substitutes waiting in rush lines/lottos most of the time.
Oh, most definitely.
Sorry. TDF? Is this the thing where the producers will post unsold or returned tickets online and you have to be a member in order to buy them? (I'm assuming it stands for Theatre Development Fund)
if you are in NYC a lot, ABSOLUTELY worth it....you actually get some really good tickets (and they're ESPECIALLY good when you know that you are paying 28 dollars....maybe they wouldn't be FABULOUS if you were paying 100 dollars, but you're not)
due to TDF, i have seen sooo many shows and not once have i been disapointed in my seats.....
bump
Has any TDF member ever seen The Producers on the list?
thanks

You save it on the first show
Without TDF & Bway Box, we would see a fraction of what we see now. Saw Jersey Boys on TDF right before it opened.

I'm seeing The Wedding Singer today at 7:30 for $32. Last time I bought them on Broadway.com and payed $70 dollars and i had pretty bad seats. Even if you don't know where your sitting, everytime I used TDF I am never dissappointed with my seats.
So... yes. It is worth it.
Yes, absolutely worth it. You won't see things like Wicked, Spamalot, or Jersey Boys--think more of the kind of shows you'd see available at TKTS (which is run by TDF)--but who cares? They usually have some fantastic Broadway shows each month that I've been wanting to see but wouldn't have otherwise spent full price on (also a lot of great off-Broadway fare that I wouldn't have even heard of otherwise). It can be a great way to catch shows before they close--if the shows aren't selling enough and are on their way out, they'll sometimes make those unsold seats available through TDF for a fraction of the cost. I saw Dirty Rotten Scoundrels about a week before it closed and paid $33 for a great $111.25 Front Mezz seat...couldn't have been more satisfied. So definitely go for it.
I just joined, and in addition to a current student ID should I also send a copy of my registration info?

Nope! I actually did see Jersey Boys through TDF for $33 before anybody knew it would be a hit. I never regret my membership fee, it's absolutely worth it!
