I think Roxie is a good choice. She'd definitely be better than Karen Ziemba.
Oh, and I'm thrilled that Sutton is still with MILLIE. Gone are the days when the stars of shows stayed with them for any great length of time. Everyone moves on so quickly these days. It's kind of sad. Ethel Merman, Mary Martin, and other stars from Broadway's heyday used to stay in their shows for years (if they were hits, obviously).
The only stars who have stayed for great lengths of time (that I can think of at the moment)...
Sutton Foster ... MILLIE
Harriet Harris ... MILLIE
Adam Pascal ... AIDA
John Cullum ... URINETOWN
And these shows haven't even been running that long (with the exception of AIDA).
There are obviously more, but not too many!

Anthiny Rapp stayed with Rent for a long time. He did the original workshop, then a litle over two years on Broadway, then they moved him to London, then he played the role for a short stint with the Angel Tour.
And don't forget Harvey Fierstein in Torch Song Trilogy.

It would never happen in a million years, but...
Sutton Foster and Christian Borle would be ideal opposite each other in "Drat! The Cat!"

Posted: 7/15/03 at 4:26pmI would love to see her do a movie or a sitcom. Most of America still does not know who she is, and they have no idea what they're missing. From everything I read about her, she seems so shy, modest, and down to earth, and I admire her for that, but I can't help but think what if. Still, it is her personal decision, and I wish her all the best. (Do I sound like a dad or what?)

Posted: 7/15/03 at 4:51pmAnother question that pops in my mind after reading this (and maybe this is general knowledge and I'm just out of it) - who is going to REPLACE sutton once she leaves?

Posted: 7/15/03 at 6:21pmI don't want her to do a sitcom. She is such an amazing stage actress. Why lose her? As for who will replace her- I'm not sure. She is irreplaceable, but I think Amy Spanger could do amazingly well. Maybe Shoshana Bean could take over, and finally get a Leading role on Broadway! These 2 women can sure as hell belt those songs!

Posted: 7/15/03 at 8:13pmCatherine Brunell left the company awhile ago to do "Cinderella," but I read that the production was cancelled. But I'm not sure whether or not she returned to Millie.

I am ALL ABOUT Mr. Macintosh having a success w/ Poppins and bringing it over to the US w/ Sutton as Mary Poppins! (Although Eliza would be great too - definitely see her in that!) Perhaps Dame Julie should become her career counselor :)
I don't think Sutton is shy (?) - but I think she's much more gawky than sassy/sexy which she'd have to work at a bit more...but hey, that's what acting's about!
btw - I am absolutely delighted that Sutton is still w/ Millie!

Posted: 7/15/03 at 11:00pmI think Sutton will extend her contract in Millie once again when November 2nd rolls around. I think she'll stick with Millie for a while and would be pleasantly surprised if she decided to move on.

I hate to see her move on, but if she does she needs to be in John and Jenn, her voice is perfect for the show, and her and hunter could be a great tandem in it- just think about it.

Victoria Grant...
You listed some great roles for Sutton. I particularly liked Mabel (MACK & MABEL) and Polly (CRAZY FOR YOU). Those both seem perfect!
I'm surprised to see so many people putting her in as Fanny in FUNNY GIRL. She's way too white bread. Extremely talented, and fun to watch, but too white bread.
Shoshana Bean needs to be Fanny Brice.
