I saw Elena Rogers last night at the Kennedy Honors Telecast at CBS. The Argentinian born actress can really belt, huh ! She's amazing!!! I was wonderin' if the London 2006 Revival of Evita will come to Broadway and I hope they bring Elena Rogers too !!!
(Finally an authentic argentinian Evita !!!)
Raul Esparza as Che Guevarra ? I hope they cast mostly Hispanics actors in EVITA Revival and of course Elena Rogers!!!

Is any of that on the unspeakable site?

I seem to recall that it's tentatively scheduled for Fall 2007
There was a lot of speculation about the Imperial Theatre when HiFi closed, but there was also a lot of talk about Billy Elliot. I never really read if there was anything official about either, though. And none of it's on "The site." Donna Murphy singing "Kiss of a Spider Woman" is though. I like it except for where she does the crazy arm thing.

And in the mean time, Coram Boy has booked the Imperial for the Spring (previewing April 10th, opening May 1st)
Ty. What is your avatar construed from?
Evita hassnt really done as well as expected in London so i wouldn't hold your breath.
You seem to be getting Our guys and dolls though as the show is just about to go out on its UK national tour and all the posters etc say prior to Broadway
!!!!
I wish the original west end cast would return.

Of course she can belt, Hispanics (such as I) belt beautifully, ever listen to the Original Lady of the Lake? I'm just kidding, not all of us can belt, but we do pretty well! I do hope she gets here, I assume they won't have any problems with actor's equity...
thanks for the grammar lesson, my english is still weak after five years, ugh...

Did you mean do you pretty well?
I was doubtful that this EVITA would actually make it to our shores, but after that performance on the TV last nite I think it actually has a decent chance. I'd been hearing so many great things about Elena, many calling her "perfect" and possibly "the best Evita ever".
Her vocals on the cast album didn't blow me away like I thought they would, but they are much better than many of the major Evitas I've heard. Finally getting to see her perform yesterday, I now see what the fuss is about. It seems like our past Evitas have been judged almost solely on their vocal power. Ms Roger might not match Patti or a few others as far as that goes, but I have NEVER seen an Evita dance like that or seemingly embody the real-life figure like she did. She even looks a bit like a tiny latin Patti, and that accent is the most authentic we're gonna see. Her energy was incredible in that one number, so I can only imagine the power she exudes in the rest of the show. It's clear that Team Webber wants to show her off (did u see Spielberg lean over and say "She's Wonderful!" to ALW?) and this well-planned performance could be the catalyst to finally get this EVITA revival to Broadway.
I just hope they are able to hold on to the other leads, cause that would mean having Philip Quast on Broadway!

Here's hoping they replace Matt Rawle for broadway, cute as he is.
"the site" also has Heather Headley doing "Your Song" for Elton John, stunning!
is that the guy playing Che in that production? he's not too good, but Elena and Philip are keepers. then Philip can stay and step into LES MIS, which I fully expect to still be running at this point

Yes, Matt Rawle is the Che in the West End revival. I would really like to see Micheal Arden have a go. I think he'd be great, plus he deserves it after having to deal with as unsuccessful a show as The Times was.
I liked Matt in Martin Guerre though.
Heather's "Your Song" is pure love, I agree. I wish I'd known about the broadcast! Hopefully it'll make its way to The-Site-That-Must-Not-Be-Named.
I thought she was terrible last night.
Have you seen your avatar? You probably want Cheno to be in it. Pls go.

Ha! Quast's just about as over Les Miz as Jack Noseworthy is over Lestat.
this isn't about what Philip wants!! he's the best Javert alive today, and he has a duty. once he does that he'll just have to stick around for those SUNDAY IN THE PARK and SECRET GARDEN revivals. and if THE FIX ever makes it to Broadway (yeah right) then we'll have the original Grahame. I could give a crap about EVITA really, the plan here is to get Quast to defect to NY.

He can come here if the UK can keep Mandy Patinkin.
Nice Jack Noseworthy reference. I saw him. I don't really get how he was taking it in a different direction than Drew did (I mean, there would have to be arc and direction for that to happen), but whatever.
I want Mandy to go to the middle east.
I'd happily trade Patinkin and a future draft pick to get Quast here. To get Warlow here, I'd trade every TONY winner of the last 5 years

You know, I was all perfectly good and ready to write a normal reply, including a mention that I also saw Jack Noseworthy, but then you made that Mandy comment and...I...don't know...
