Is the Boy From Oz worth it?????#0

Just recently I decided to go see the Boy From Oz before it closes. 2 days ago there were seats left for next week shows and today, it's sold out until the 12th. Is the Boy From Oz worth it????? Which means I may never get to see Hugh.

I went searching on line for tickets and guess what, I found some but nothing less than $230. I'm seriously considering paying it just to see the show only because it was one of those "must see" shows.

My question is to you all, is the show worth me dropping that kind of money to see it????? Will I be missing out on something FANTASTIC if I don't go???

I haven't seen it, but from people who have, here's what they will say:

For Hugh's performance, it's very much worth it. From a show point of view, that's way too much.

Hugh Jackman's perfomance is sensational! The show is not. Still, I saw it twice for Jackman's performance alone. I'm also a big fan of Peter Allen and his music. I imagine that the final performances will be nothing short of electrifying, and will no doubt be memorable. Whether it's worth $230.00 or more to see it is up for debate. I'm not in favor of shows raising their ticket prices when they're a hit or have a big name star. But it's all about supply and demand. And if people are willing to pay scalpers upwards of $300.00-$500.00 per ticket or more for some shows ('The Producers' comes to mind) than I guess the producers have every right to charge those prices and pocket the money themselves. But I still can't help feeling that they're taking advantage of their fan base.

Hmmm, I don't know. I have to admit that Hugh is the main reason why I want to go. The $230 isn't for the last show, that was a lot A LOT more. And I don't think this is pricing from the show but from online scalpers (I guess). Which brings up the point if I can trust them or not. I'm gonna have to play this by ear or find a college student who would be will to take me on a date. re: Is the Boy From Oz worth it?????

Curtainup2, I totally agree with what you said. I saw it twice and Hugh is the whole show. The show itself has a kind of weak story line. I paid $100.00 both times to see it. If you can afford it, go just to see Hugh. He is phenomenal. I remember when they were selling tixs for The Producers for $400.00 I never did see it with Nathan and Matthew.

I agree about the Hugh being worth it. I didn't love the show by any stretch of the imagination but Hugh is amazing in it!

Mmm...it's not worth it for me, since I already saw it. But who knows when Jackman will come back to Broadway, and in what format. I have no idea what your financial means are, nor is that subject any of my business, but if you feel you can afford it, go. Jackman's performance is pretty special, and his fellow cast members have really risen above their material over time.

I'd pay $500 to see it one more time, Hugh is an amazing performer.

I've been trying to get tickets to the last show, but have had no luck.

Ilive4nyc you can see the last show - you're gonna pay close to $600 but you can see it. That's a little outrageous to me but if you really think he's worth it.

I saw the show last Nov for $100 and loved it, loved, loved it. I had wanted to see it again before it closed and even a couple of months ago, could only get decent seats at the box office if I went for their 'premium seating'. So I bit the bullet and did just that.

I spend $500 for the 2 seats and enjoyed each and every minute of the show. I don't like feeling taken advantage of but wanted to see the show badly enough to put those feelings aside. If you can swing it - go. The memories of a fantastic show will last much longer than the balance on your Visa.

Oh - I think the box office premium seats are now at $350. Makes me feel like a got a bargain.

Hmmm that seems like a lot. But he is leaving soon so...anyway. I loved the show. He is great! The others are great as well and Peter Allans songs are very good too! Some of them are sooo moving. If ur a real Hugh Jackman fan, Id go. Who knows when ull see him again. Also, it is near the end of his run so he'll probably be giving even better performances then usual!

The only thing is ull be kicking urself if they release it on DVD lol. Still this is live. Go for it :) Good Luck

We were in NY the week of New Year's with tickets to various shows every night we were there(except New Year's Eve). On the morning of New Years Eve (Wednesday) I got the bright idea of trying to find tickets to a matinee that day and the concierge found two tickets to Boy from Oz for us. Had the same dilemma (well almost the same dilemma) since the tickets were $160 apiece but I bought them anyway and totally enjoyed Hugh's performance. The show itself is only "ok", but he was brilliant; giving the audience 125%. I wouldn't hesitate to spend that money again to see the kind of performance he brings to the boards.

DEFINITELY! go see it. Hugh is amazing in the show. The entire cast is phenomanal. Isabel Keating is a dead image of Judy Garland and an amazing actress. Stephanie Block is wonderful as Liza. It's a great show.

Absolutely go see it for Hugh's incredible performance, but if you're really willing to spend whatever necessary, I'd spring for a bit more money to go on Sept 12 because that will be amazing.

Sorry to bump, but on ebay right now, so far there aren't any BFO tickets for 09/12 that exceed US$230/ticket (if even that much). If you're willing to pay that kind of money, I suggest starting your bidding!

I'm really starting to hate they jacked up the prices of these tickets. I really want to go and it's killing me to know I have to pay so much although now I know it will be worth it.
