Also, you may want to check out Summer Shorts at 59e59 since you are into plays. It can be a mixed bag but enjoyable still. Neil Labute always contributes something.

I've heard nothing of The Effect. Worth seeing?
and there's always Paramour!

An Act of God is also playing, it was a really good time. Worth a shot.

See a show a second or third time. It can be a completely different experience.

"Hamilton is also definitely the exception of a Broadway show that can open in the summer and still be remembered, let alone win, come Tony time. "
Didn't Avenue Q and Hairspray open in the summer?

I usually go in mid-October to catch the beginning of the fall openings, February for the late fall/early spring stuff, and then mid-May for the later spring shows. Every time I've been to the city over the summer to see theater I've seen either repeats, Off Broadway shows, or stuff that wasn't a first choice but ended up being the best option for a cheap ticket. There are also always excellent 54 Below shows over the summer.

The Effect is worth seeing if there is nothing else compelling. I wouldn't say it's a can't miss.

I know Jenn Damiano's 54 Below concert is that week, if you're a fan of her.
