Do you call characters by the actors name because the actor embodies the character so well.

(Let's get it out of the way: Kristin Chenoweth - G(a)linda)

Like, I always catch myself calling Sally Bowles Natasha Richardson.

lol, I know what you mean. I sometimes catch myself called Elphaba Idina, or Roger Adam. Oh, and Raul is Raul in anything he does, be it Riff Raff, Jon, Philip or whatever. lol

The only Riff Raff I know is Richard O'Brian...

I only refer to them as character name, sometimes I do both just to clarify. I mean, sometimes the same actor just isn't as good in other shows.

Harvey Feirstein as Edna (even though I put Edna in the greatest character thread...Harvey did such a great job with her that she HAS become a bonafide theater "icon" re: It's not the character, it's the actor.) Updated On: 11/3/04 at 10:25 PM

timote, those were the three I was going to mention. I think it's because those are three of my favorites, and I often catch myself being so immersed in seeing THEM that I have trouble drawing the line between the character and the actor. I can do it, it just takes a long time.

This message may be only refering to Broadway performances, but...
when my sister was in 5th grade, she did a production of
THE WIZARD OF OZ and until today (7 years later)
I call the actresses Glinda, Dorothy, Wicked Witch of the West.
My sister tells me their real names, but they will always
be Glinda, Dorothy, and Wicked Witch of the West!

Totally agree with Richard O'Brian.
