Last night I actually walked out of a professional production of Lisa Loomers sitcom...uh, "play" "Living Out" at intermission. I always feel bad about doing this, but life is just too short for bad theatre. It makes me angry.
Also recently walked out of a production of that old unproducable bugbear "Romeo and Juliet" (has there EVER
been a successful production of this?!)
So, darlings, tell us: What are the high-profile productions you walked out at intermission or any other time?
Can't think of a big,high-profile production where I did that, although I almost left a tour of "Sunset Blvd". Only the cool set and my personal affection for Petula Clark kept me for the second act.

To be honest, we almost left at Rent.
I'm cheap so i'll only leave if it really sucked and I had comps. But I have left movies that sucked.
The Look of Love and Cinderella
WTF was I thinking, anyway????

Did anyone read today's reviews of "Drowning Crow"?

I recently walked out of Fiddler- what a boring show!
Hank I have tickets to see Drowning Crow towards the end of March. I'm hoping it will close before then so I can get my money back.
I normally try to stick around for the whole thing-be it elementary-college performance, broadway, movies, concerts, etc...but this year, oh lord, I went to one of my neighboring high schools to see Peter Pan. Now I must admit that I thought, and was really excited about it, that it was the musical Peter Pan, not the lame play version....So imagine my suprise when they've flown off to Neverland without singing "Tender Shepard," or "I'm Flying" or "Neverland", (You would think I would've taken the hint when i noticed there was no pit band--no comment). Anyway, compound my dissapointment in the lack of music, with the bad acting, and worse staging....needless to say we left halfway through act 1. (And I'm even part of a club that reviews area high school shows--trust me, this was terrible) But I did get some good ideas from the show..For instance-their speechless tinkerbell was a ballerina on point (with ample sparkles), and tiny bells on her tutu--it was a great choice!
always

The topic of walking out at intermission was the subject of another thread several months ago. Many of us posted. My list was and continues to be long. Check out the search capabilities of the board.

not to be rude, but I personally wasnt here a few months ago, and i think its nice to be able to write new posts even if they are on a topic which has been covered already by the old pros.

Well, there's the French musical. And then the Dutch translation version of the French musical. But i'm not sure what you meant by "has there EVER been a successful production of this?!" :0/

I forgot I walked out of The Karaoke Show!! That is just awfull.
I know we have discussed this in an earlier thread, but anything worth saying is worth repeating 1000 times.
I walked out on Noises Off at Intermission (and felt guilty, like I was cutting out of class)
I wanted to walk out during Adult Entertainment, yikes, what a dud.
I left a production of "A Ritual for Returning" in Colorado at intermission. Only time I have ever done that.
I've never walked out of anyting personally...
But I had a huge argument with some girl in my musical theatre class the other night who walked out of Millie(my fave show!) I can understand walking out of something if it is truly awful but come on, MILLIE???

I have always left at the intermission of any Annie performances.
It's one thing when they perform it, it's really bad when they CAN'T perform it correctly.

I wish I could have left the script of We Will Rock You.
I would never walk out on a Broadway show. Too much money.
Dear Juliette,
I have simply never seen a successful production of R&J! I love reading it, enjoyed some of the film versions, but stage directors just don't seem to know what to do with it. (This recent production had an ANTI WAR!!!!! theme, with the chorus in army fatigues and riot gear. It was supposed to be Deep and Timely but was just Tacky and Embarassing) Or actors: If there is a strong Romeo, then there is a weak Juliet, if there is a strong Juliet, then Romeo sucks. Or they're both pretty good but there is just no chemistry between them. Of all the "big name" Shakespeares, its got to be the hardest to pull off, harder than "Lear"!
