Ended up just getting it on iTunes. While I do wish it had been a studio recording, I am enjoying the live recording a lot!

i like that live recording though i'm still annoyed they didn't release the entire show (the album is missing about 12 tracks)

Yeah, the Hadestown album is terrific, it is such a bummer that it is incomplete.
The JCS album is on Spotify now.

Is there any way to get the studio tracks at this point or no (for those of us who didn't preorder?)

Why would you want studio recordings for a show that was recorded LIVE and therefore meant to be experienced that way "for posterity"?
That's like going to, for example, Green Day's two-night set at London's Milton Keynes arena in 2005 (which was the basis for their Bullet in a Bible special and album) and then expecting them to release a "studio version" of said show despite the fact that the intention was always to document the performances LIVE and release them that way.

So then, what you're saying is...no?

I too would prefer the studio recording release.

And to clarify my question, I did not mean would they record an entire studio version (though I'd be very on board with that) - just asking if the tracks they did prerelease as studio recordings are still available anywhere.

They were still on Spotify last I checked. Not as part of the album, as separate tracks.

Thanks will check it out!
So I'm one of those who is confused with all of this.
I knew that they had pre-recorded those tracks (Gethsemane, Superstar, I don't Know How to Love Him and maybe the overture?) but had no idea that they were going to swap those out for the live version. I kind of thought that because people said there was a major difference between the Dress Rehersal and live version of Gethsemane that perhaps they'd use that one.
That being said - I didn't think Legend was terrible in the live version. And only if your a JCS/ALW fan who has multiple recordings (like I do) would you really know the difference between someone who really nails that song and this version.
If anyone has the studio of Legend's Gethsemane - I'd love to hear it.
