The show was written to be performed without any hair or makeup changes between the two characters--it was only when Robert Cuccioli came on board that the creators looked at his long hair and were like, "Hey, let's use that." I did the show a few years ago and the guy playing Jekyll/Hyde did not use a wig and it was fine. The "Confrontation" had to be staged slightly differently, but other than that, it really doesn't matter. Also, if you make the mistake of getting a fake-looking wig, it will only be ridiculous.

I agree that a wig is not entirely necessary. good wigs are expensive and a crappy one will only look cheesy, and since the show often borders on melodramatic cheese puff (and I say this adoringly) it's a risk to take it further with a clown wig. if you want one definitely look around, but if you can't find a decent wig then just don't worry about it...
maybe look for a discount theatrical supply or wig store in the good ol' yellow pages?

IF you use a wig be sure and get a very good waterproof adhesive and get a wig that has "lace" edging...its called lace but its really a flesh toned very fine mesh that adheres to the face just below the hairline...that keeps the wig from slipping with all of the action and perspiration...
i also don't see that a wig is necessary...although i do LOVE Henry's ponytail...if you really want long hair perhaps the actor would consider getting extentions for the run of the show...GOOD extentions! i saw a high school do it (it was amazing) and the kid playing JH...just gelled his hair for Henry and messed it up for Hyde..it worked just fine...
Where is your production??

Contact the director of The Piedmont Players in NC. He directed it a couple of years ago and is REALLY into effects. He might be able to shed some light on things to try.

I did some shows for that theatre and they won top awards for the state for their accomplishments in community theatre.
