Oprah is doing her show from Central Park today, and Twitter reports that Hugh and Daniel surprised her at her show - *goes to set DVR for Oprah's show today*
My wife's boss saw it last night & said she & her friend almost fell asleep
She was told it was so boring like you could not believe. She also said both leads appeared to be nervous & were flubbing their lines. What do you expect for $ 130?
Barnum was right - there is a sucker born every minute.
How would she know that they were flubbing their lines? Did she write the show?
Stammering & not remembering lines is a clue. I have seen it happen & I am quite sure you have as well.
Jackman has stage presence but Craig may not.
I'm seeing it next month and looking forward to it. Hugh was so wonderful in "The Boy From Oz."
That's too bad that it happened - but, just goes to show you that they are human, just like the rest of us.
Only saw 1 show that put me to sleep - "Butley."
"She also said both leads appeared to be nervous & were flubbing their lines."
Well, considering they are very early in previews, I am sure they will shape up if this is true. Give them a break.
Give the schlubs paying full price ($ 130) a break while you are at it.
Which is why I'll never pay full price for a show in previews.
yes..to be fair the show is in previews.. and we do know that often the script is being changed while in previews. Two days ago the two of them showed up at the theatre two hours early to rehearse... so it is likely that there are changed being made.. changes that can be confusing when it's a show where the two of thema re giving monologues the whole time.
I saw 10 seconds of them on Oprah and disgustedly turned it off. I absolutely cannot *stand* Hugh Jackman.
"We just wanted to come out and say good morning to everybody" - meanwhile, he's firmly facing Oprah, not the audience.
"We're playing a couple of Chicago cops...Chicago."
I felt like I could breathe better the moment I changed channels.
Feb. 28 - Looped, Feb. 28 - Next to Normal, March 4 - Hair, March 11 - A Little Night Music, March 24 - Time Stands Still, April 6 - La Cage Aux Folles, April 10 - Anyone Can Whistle (City Center), April 10 - Looped, May 9 - Enron, May 15 - A Little Night Music, May 15 - A Behanding In Spokane, May 30 - A Behanding In Spokane, May 30 - A Little Night Music, June 20 - A Little Night Music, June 23 - Red, June 23 - Sondheim on Sondheim, July 13 - A Little Night Music, July 18 - The Grand Manner (Lincoln Center)
Disgustedly turned it off? Oh my, how dramatic.. What's the matter, did Hugh Jackman pee on your Playbill?
I saw the final dress and there was one single flubbed line. And Craig has plenty of stage presence. He gives a stronger performance than Jackman.
I laughed at him saying Chicago twice. I felt like he was making a joke about the fact that a guy with an Australian accent and one with a British accent are playing Americans with Chicago accents.
What made me laugh was that Oprah was all "I didn't know you were on Broadway" and then goes on to say what day the show officially opens.
Eris, perhaps you didn't the gigantic teleprompters on the sides of the stage? I'm sure as soon as they came on, they switched the text. Don't forget, she started off reading the news
You know, I didn't even think of that. But it was still pretty funny.
Oprah LOVES to play the "I didn't know that" card all the time. She LOVES acting like what guests say is 'new' to her so it gives it an 'Oprah Exclusive' feel to it. Trust me... she is SO involved in every aspect of her show that I wouldn't be surprised if she herself didn't personally call 'her friend' Hugh Jackman to make that walk-on with Daniel Craig during her show.
"... Oprah announced today that Hugh Jackman and that James Bond guy are in some play on Broadway right now."
"... really? Oh my God! Which musical? CHICAGO? I mean, I heard that Hugh Jackman is a singer so he sings."
can you say di en gen ious?
I knew that you could.
Oprah said during the clip she thought she was introducing a restaurant piece. I also heard that the big dance sequence was a secret to her too. Who knows? I don't think they'd ever do something that would embarrass her, so I'm sure every "surprise" is Gayle approved.
