Jai Rodriguez in A Chorus Line revival?

I personally hope that this information is false. While I do respect Jai Rodriguez and his talent, I also do not think he would be able to pull off this role as well as many other actors out there.
No, there is no link to an article. A friend of mine who works at a theatre in New York shared this information with me without being 100% sure, so I just wanted to see if anyone else had heard anything. So, yes...this is just rumor for the moment.
I hope it stays a rumor and never happens!

People will still go in huge groups to see it because the cast is going to be great as a whole and the show has awesome material. If Jai is cast he may or may not be able to do the part but everyone will still go to A Chorus Line. End of story.

What kind of commitment would that be for Jai, if it was true? Because he is contracted to Queer Eye until at least October 2006. The show goes on hiatus from October through February, so the only side projects he would be able to do (apart from small gigs like performing at xl on Sunday sometimes, and his 2 day guest spot on OLTL) would have to be during that time. He did mention he was thinking of moving to California temporarily during his haitus.

Posted: 8/2/05 at 5:18pmFact of the matter is, no matter what shows he's in, and no matter how great he performs, every one will always see him as the queer eye guy. who's really gonna take him seriously as a performer?

Posted: 8/2/05 at 5:46pmSee, I'm still not sold on the fact that the show will sell well outside the theatrical community. ACL was known very well for a very long time but it's been gone for 15 years and I don't know that the normal Joe on the street is gonna choose ACL over something else that they are more familiar with. Does that make sense?

It had an untold number of national tours that took the show to every town, big and small, in the country (as well as countless European tours) and has had literally thousands of productions in in regional houses, community theatres, dinner theatres and even a few high schools since then. It remains one of the most known and beloved musicals in Broadway history and a first class revival should be a big hit.

I felt like Jai was singing into a mirror the whole time at xl. well..i guess we'll see what happens..

I'm actually not sold that the revival will be a big hit either, even if it is stellar, for exactly the reasons Margo states...
The show has been done countless times around the world, and 95 percent of all professional regional/stock productions have been recreations of the original Broadway presentation.
Seeing as how this new revival isn't going to be offering much different (except hopefully an amazing cast) I don't think a lot of people who've seen the show a dozen times are going to want to pay 100 dollars to see the exact same thing.

I wouldn't be shocked if he were cast, to be honest. But I do think the show should stay with the traditional theme of unknowns.
One would think the show alone would be a box office smash. But I've got to admit, as much as I want to see a professional production considering I didn't see the original, it seems a tad bit soon.

Speaking of Jai,
What is with the photo of him inside the new Hair recording (recording with his pants down)? An attempt to be "cute" or just annoying?
