My that was a great review!  After Eight must be convulsing and regurgitating. Poor thing.                             .

"After Eight must be convulsing and regurgitating. Poor thing."

Don't cry for me, Argentina. No convulsions from me, except perhaps, those of laughter.  Considering what passes for theatre "criticism" nowadays, steeped in, or more accurately, reeking of, the same mindset as yours, how could one have expected any other kind of, ahem, "review?"

I never said anything about the performance Saturday night except that it was not fully realized. What you disagreed with After Eight were my remarks about Tesori not being concerned about how people respond to her work. I am not even saying I agree with the review. I found it amusing that it was the polar opposite of your opinion given that you seem to think that your views are the only ones that are valid. But you get points for your spunk which is very similar to Ms. Tesori's.

It is one persons opinion. It does not make it right or wrong. We saw many more than one walk out the door and on their way home at intermission when we left.

Why not? I'm sure we would have loved hearing your further thoughts on the matter.

"you seem to think that your views are the only ones that are valid."

And how do you feel about your own?

I had a good time, it was fun, great to see Sutton and Jonathan, loved the opening, loved most of what they did (not the Fred and Ginger, though), and still think Jeanine is extraordinarily talented. Like most of the new material. Thrilled that I was there. Sorry!"

You're not alone, I loved it as well. I don't mind when things like this are a little messy; that's part of the fun to me. I quite enjoyed most of the new work as well, and I thought both of Shaina Taub's contributions ("Room" and "When"Jamboree - What A Mess were beautiful. I was there with my mom, who also had a wonderful time.

I personally enjoyed Groff singing some more pop songs and the Patty Griffin song that Sutton sang. I get to hear these people sing musical theater all the time; it offers some nice insight to hear them sing other kinds of music they enjoy. When I saw Groff at Joe's Pub several years ago the set was almost entirely made up of pop songs and it was fantastic, including a couple of Joni Mitchell songs and a Stevie Wonder song, so I wasn't surprised to hear more of that here. Sutton in particular pleasantly surprised me with her subdued take on the Patty Griffin song and "Stars and the Moon." I quite like her but I don't think she's the most versatile vocalist, but her versions of both of those, along with "Room" at the beginning of the evening, were very beautiful and restrained. She's matured wonderfully as an actress; I adored her performance in Violet and think she's wonderful on Younger as well. I hope we get to see her back onstage soon.
