I did a search and didn't see anything posted about this so forgive me if this has been posted....
"It turns out that Franco is very much in the mix to play opposite Nicole Kidman next fall on Broadway in “Sweet Bird of Youth.” The role of course would be that of Chance Wayne in the Tennessee Williams classic was played on screen by Paul Newman. The last time it was on Broadway, Christopher Walken had the role. That was in 1975."
James Franco to join Nicole Kidman
Doesn't Chance get castrated at the end of the play?
Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!
I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com
James Franco would get me to the theater faster than Kidman!
As for Chance's castration -- it is implied and seems inevitable.
I thought there was a production on Broadway after the 1975 Walken production. Lauren Bacall played the role in a tour of Australia, I always thought that was a transfer from Broadway.
Any way I hope this happens.
