"Emmy Award-winning "The Practice" and "Boston Legal" star James Spader will make his Broadway debut this fall in the new David Mamet play Race, according to The New York Times.
The play by the author of American Buffalo, Glengarry Glen Ross, Speed-the-Plow, November and The Cryptogram will begin rehearsals Oct. 19 toward a first preview of Nov. 17 at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre with an official opening Dec. 6.
Mamet will also direct.
The design team will include set designer Santo Loquasto, lighting designer Brian MacDevitt and costume designer Paul Tazewell.
Jeffrey Richards, Jerry Frankel and Steve Traxler will produce Race. No details about the plot have been announced..."

Spader was genius on Boston Legal and The Practice.
I'm curious if that magnetism will translate to the stage.

David Schwimmer did an adaptation of the book RACE a few years ago.
Mamet's play is exactly what the title says, according to press notes.
I'm with whoever it was that posted a few weeks ago that it'll probably be about racecar driving, as opposed to the other big topic...you know, racism.

And the idea of him spewing Mametisms in a play about racism makes me all tingly inside.
