Is there reason to expect her to do anything but yet another retread of Sue Sylvester?
If that were the only role she's ever done, then yeah, that would be my expectation. But her background is a bit more robust than just Sue Sylvester.
Not that there's anything wrong with that portrayal. Best thing on Glee.
Is Annie on Broadway? *Yawn*
Yes, it is. Why are you so sleepy? Is it altitude sickness from being so far above it all?

This is great casting! I wonder if it will cause ANNIE to rise to sell out status? I mean they have already been doing very solid business but I wonder if those 8 weeks with Ms. Lynch will have a big effect? I think they might!

looks like a recording is in the process - the Annie store sent me this today
"There has been ongoing discussions regarding a new cast recording. We are unable to release any official information at this time, but we are optimistic that a recording will be made. Please check back for updates.

@weethomas-
I completely agree... Glee is only the most recent of her work.
Lynch has had a fantastic career, and has managed to play all of her roles very differently, while maintaining the same essence she has developed and created.
So you know its Jane Lynch, but she is obviously diving into a character.
I don't think it will be much of a departure from Sue, but that's what the audience is going to expect anyway, so you don't want to let them down, either.
I hope they give her a wig though. It'll be fun to see her with the smaller children considering she's so much taller.
I thought she'd be a terrific choice right from the get go. SO glad she'll have a chance to play this role. I'm sure she'll be hilarious.
I guess all these people saying she can't sing, didn't see her version of Vogue on Glee.

Funny that Carol Burnett played her mother and the show and now she is playing on of Carol's roles
If the wonderfully talented Katie Finneran gets nominated for a Tony for her mis-cast mis-guided
substandard performance as Hannigan, I will personally eat Annie. Whole.
Anyone got a Vodka Stinger to knock Annie Down with? Trust me.. I won't need it.

I saw Annie tonight ... finally, after much hemming and hawing... I should have stayed home. Finneran was woefully misdirected... as was the entire show. I am too tired to go into detail but it was just- boring
Wasn't it the worst revival.....ever??? Sorry you had to sit through it.
Will be nice to see her in something different than her "Glee" character which has become so lame and over the top.
I've been hoping for a while now that she would get something else to do - I feel as thought Glee just doesn't know what to do with her character any more; they've reduced her to either doing the same old shtick or things that are just incomprehensible (turning up at Will's wedding in a copy of Emma's wedding dress?!)
I love her work in Christopher Guest's films, and she sang very well in "A Mighty Wind," so I don't see any problem with her tackling this role. I'd love to see her in it.
Gee, why doesn't Glee write THIS into the show? Sue Sylvester gets to Broadway before Rachel Berry does. :-p
All kidding aside, this is a good casting choice. I still kinda want to see her as Mama in "Chicago" sometime in the future, though...
Who wants to place bets they were waiting till they got a star Hannigan to make the recording, and that's the only reason we're hearing about it now?

Worse than the Nell Carter version?
Katie Dissapointed me when i saw her so i will be excited to see Jane!! I imagine that even if she has trouble singing, her acting will be brilliant!!
Sadly, I missed the Nell Carter Version but I can't imagine Carter being any worse than Finneran in the role.
