Posted: 2/10/04 at 1:04pmThere are no details so maybe this was an "accidental" suicide? sigh. probably not. We never know what's inside another person's heart.
#32Jason's death
Posted: 2/10/04 at 1:05pmI still can't believe it! I met him when he first started touring with Superstar, and he was always so sweet and fun! It seemed like his dreams had come true, he achieved so much since I first saw him as a young kid of 19 starting out with his career. I will always treasure the times I got to see him perform and and I can't imagine what would have caused such a talented performer, who seemed to have so much going for him, to think that he had no reason to live? He had opportunities to touch people's lives and make them happy with his voice and his work, I just can't imagine why he would end his life. I will never forget him. I hope he has found peace and my thoughts to his loved ones, who must be hurting just so much right now.

Are they saying it is an Accidental Suicide? As in.... what I am thinking?
But the bottom line is this.. a great talent and one who could have gone far is no longer with us. And for that I am sad.

Accidental suicide? I don't see that anywhere... Are you looking at the "apparent suicide" on the Bway.com article?
God, horrible, tragic news... I hate when people's lives have to be taken at such a young age, especially in such a tragic manner as suicide...

If anyone was wondering, I saw the Lion King tour tonight (the first performance since his death) and there was no noticeable mention/homage of Jason during or after the show. I halfway expected a short curtain speech.
(Does anyone know if the Broadway cast did anything like this?)
Still so sad.

Why would he be in Yass? It is the not the sort of place one would 'go to'. Pass through, yes. It is a pretty uninteresting town about 3 hours south of Sydney on the road to Melbourne.
May he RIP.

Well, I don't think anyone in the audience would have known who Jason was. I wouldn't have excpected a mention of a tour, because very few outside of the NYC theatre scene would have heard of him...
I guess the Broadway cast might have said a few words? that would make a bit more sense.
I still don't understand how someone "accidentally" kills themself =*(

No one said he accidentally killed himself. This was just something another poster said, for no apparent reason. There are people who die of drug overdoses who deliberately take too many pills in order to kill themselves. There are people who die of drug overdoses who had no intention of killing themselves but simply take the wrong amount of or mix the wrong drugs.
Then there are people who die by hanging. Sometimes they aren't intending to kill themselves but are playing a dangerous game of autoerotic asphyxiation. There was talk that Michael Hutchence of INXS died as a result of this. However, that was eventually ruled out.
So, there's two ways somebody could "commit suicide" by accident. Usually, if the person leaves a note, it kind of rules out an accident.
But there's little point in a group of people who know somebody from one aspect of their life guessing what is going on in the rest of their life. Sometimes people's chemicals are so messed up internally that they get so depressed that suicide seems like the only option.

If this was an intentional suicide, then what is sad is that nobody noticed anything wrong and took any action to prevent this from happening. I've known a couple of people who have committed suicide, and even though they probably thought they were solving all of their problems by killing themselves, they caused all of their friends and family a lot of grief and sorrow for a long, long time. My condolences to the family and friends who are now struggling with this.
I hope that anyone contemplating suicide either has a change of heart or has friends that notice a problem and do something about it. They say suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. But, for those around you, it can be devastating. Not to mention, a loss of great talent in Jason's case.

I see Jason's beautiful smile and can't help but feel terrible for someone who was in so much pain.
A very good friend of mine committed suicide over a year ago. I knew he was extremely depressed and he sought out psychiatric care and medication and it still didn't help. I remember the last time I spoke with him he said he was depressed. He knew he could always call me. When I called him a month later, I was shocked to find out that he was gone (we lived in different states). I was devastated and only wish the scenario played out in a different way.
After reading the article from an Australian newspaper it sounds like Jason communicated his depression with others, yet thought there was no other way out.
So, so sad.

A horrible loss, my deepest sympathy for friends and family. I read this in the Age of Australia.
