A LOT of people prefer the '94 album to the OBC, but hey, I'm a HUUUUUUGE Cuccioli fan myself. I'm partial to both, but if you want *the entire score* get the '94 recording. Warlow truly, truly shines, and deservedly so.

Posted: 8/22/07 at 10:13pmReally, you need both. The 2 CD studio cast is great except for the ensemble numbers and "Dangerous Game" so you need the OBC for those tracks.

I actually have both and I enjoy them for their differences. I love "Bring on the Men" and "B***h, B***h. B***h" from the concept cast.

Posted: 8/22/07 at 10:18pmdefinately the obc. warlow is awesome but honestly cuccioli is great as well. the problem with the two cd set is the tempos. they are so slow. the ensemble numbers are pretty bad on it two. but... you do get bring on the men and girls of the night. get the obc though.

Posted: 8/22/07 at 10:18pmAbsolutely buy the '94 Conceptual Cast first!!!! ANTHONY WARLOW is well worth the price! He is brilliant! plus Carolee Carmillo and Linda Eder!

I thought he was referring to the first concept single CD

Posted: 8/22/07 at 10:20pmNo the one with Anthony Warlow came out in 1994... the original with colm wilkinson came out in 1990.

So to my knowledge there are 4 major English recordings available:
1990 original with Colm Wilkinson
1994 Concept Cast with Anthony Warlow
1997 Broadway Cast Recording with Robert Cuccioli
2006 "resurrection" recording with Rob Evan
out of all of those go for the '94 recording with Anthony Warlow, you won't be sorry!

i'd say the obc DEFINITELY. i have the two-disc concept recording, but its a little overwhelming. the cast is definitely great and there is some good music that never made it to the broadway show, but the obc is the definitive version, and allll of the tracks on the concept recording isnt necessary if what you fell in love with is the SHOW. you could always own the obc recording and then buy the extra songs (if you wanted) from the concept recording seperately, like Bring on the men (awesome!)
i dont know, your choice. i've always wished i had the broadway cast personally....maybe i should go buy that...

Posted: 8/22/07 at 10:51pmIf you're gonna do that I would recommend buying the 2 CD concept recording and then purchasing some OBC tracks. Not the other way around. Updated On: 8/22/07 at 10:51 PM

Posted: 8/22/07 at 11:34pmI would get the braodway and the ressurection cd. The broadway has great chorus numbers but the ressurection cd has the most amazing vocalists. They pop it up, as Wildhorn originally wanted but some don't like, but they are truly amazing.

It's a hard call. I really like the song "Love Has Come Of Age" on the concept cd, but I'd say go with the OBCR and stretch your gift card a little farther with another cd.
Although I liked Ressurection, I don't think it's the one to get first. It's much more rock oriented.

The two disc concept recording wins, hands down, if only to hear what has to be the greatest example of Victorian conversation set to music, aka, "B*tch, B*tch, B*tch".

Posted: 8/23/07 at 12:05amI agree the OBCR is missing a few great numbers that are present on the concept recording! (did I mention it also has Anthony Warlow! haha)

Posted: 8/23/07 at 8:26amI'd recommend buying the Broadway recording and also the concept cd with Colm Wilkinson and Linda Eder. I prefer the second, and of the dozens and dozens of cast recordings I own, I listen to that one a lot.

Posted: 8/23/07 at 9:00amOk... I feel stupid here. I bought one on iTunes. The cover has a lighter top half and a darker bottom half...like something ripped or something. What did I get? (Told you I'm stupid!)
LIVE THAT LESSON!!!!!!

I say OBC. I do like Warlow better in the role and Carolee Carmello is strong on the 2-Disc, but the arragements are AWFUL! Plus, the tempos of the songs are different. It's too poppy, while the OBC is more theatrical. I own both, and I always listen to the OBC. The 2-Disc is more for obsessive fans.

Jordangirl - I think the one you bought was the OBCR with Robert Cuccioli, Christine Noll, and Linda Eder
that's what the OBCR looks like.
