Jenn Gambatese in Hairspray

The past August I traveled from my town (Barcelona, Spain) to NYC to see Hairspray, I was a big fan of the cast recording by then and I needed to see the show. All the tickets were sold out, but I was lucky that day and I bought a couple of them at the cancellation line.

I was amazed by the performances of Fiersten, Winokour, and all the cast members, but I found an unexpected great surprise there: Jennifer Gambatese. She was a great, sexy and very funny Penny (and she was very nice with us at the end of the show outside the theatre).

I think she worked before in A Year with Mr. Toad and she was chosen for the new musical All Shook Up, but now she returned to the Hairspray cast. Is she finally doing this musical? Can I find her performing in more cast recordings?

THANK GOD! she's back in hairspray. i refussed to see it with that other one. i dont think she starts all shook up till the spring. she's also brenda on the original cast recording of hairspray.

Jenn Gamby is one of the nicest People you will find period, she's a pretty amazing person!I look up to her SOOO MUCH!
She is in Hairspray (as of now) until Oct. 3rd.

'All Shook Up' stuff starts up again in November :) so hopefully everything will work out for the best for her! She was great in the workshop and she is great as Penny as well.

She is on the 1999 American tour version of 'Fame' and while she was in the 'Frog and Toad' OBC she is not on the 'Frog and Toad' cast recording.

PL- I have a feeling Mistress is hiding out in that big can of Hairspray attached to the Neil Simon. What do you think? Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Jenn Gambatese is the single most delightful performer on Broadway at the moment! I honestly think she is the heir to the Carol Burnett throne, she is both stunningly beautiful and a gifted comic, Brava!

She toured through Toronto twice as Serena in Fame. I absolutely adore her.
The second time my friends and I met her after the show. We were doing Fame at our highschool at the time, and she was very excited to talk to us about it and give us advice. Someone had given her a bowl of yellow roses, and she offered them to us as a "break a leg" gift for our show. It was the sweetest thing ever!
Oh, and she's an amazing performer!! A+++!!

yes, jenn is wonderful, but I REALLY do not appreciate people trashing other Pennys at all.

Jennifer Gambatese steals the show in 'Hairspray.' She is amazing and incredibly sweet. She'll be playing Penny until October 3rd and then get a month off until 'All Shook Up' starts up again on November 3rd. She is definitely going places :) She's a real rolemodel to me. -Penny

Jenn really is a sweetheart. She has great comedic timing and a great voice. She couldn't be any nicer at the stage door. Actually, she's just a great person overall! I can't wait to see her as Penny again, she's wonderful.

omg you do not know how happy this makes me! i'm so glad that you loved jenn! yay! sorry, i'm a big fan. like others have said, she is brenda on the hairspray cast recording and serena on the 1999 american cast recording of fame.

i love Jenn Gamby...I remember seeing her in FOOTLOOSE and being like who is this girl???? She is incredible and it's only her bway debut? And now look she's finally racking up the credits and soon she'll really be shaking up bway. She really is a wonderful talent and she is a bright light on stage.
