I am a little disturb about all of the various messages I have been reading about Jennifer Holliday's voice. I think it is very unusal that someone who has a voice that is, at the very least, unrivaled is being critqued in a way that makes her seem inadequate is ridiculous. She sings with passion and soul. Jennifer Holliday is one of the best singers of all time.

Bizarre post.
I just heard a version of "...Going" sung by Jennifer Hudson. I prefer Ms. Holliday! The timbre and tone of Holliday have weight, not pun intended. Hudson is like light. Good, but not the animal hunger needed.
Anyone else hear Hudson's take on it yet? My friend said it's not the version used in the film. Maybe a radio friendly version.

I posted this message is because I did a search to see what kind of things have been said about Jennifer Holliday in the past and a lot of negative things came up. People say that she is the example of how NOT to use your voice and poor technique. And that she can't sing anymore and has ruined her voice. These are obviously not true.
It is great that there was a positive response to Jennifer from this message! I am happy about that becasue she is amazing in every sense of the word. But, there were a lot of negative comments posted in the past and that is why I posted in the first place.

"People say that she is the example of how NOT to use your voice and poor technique. And that she can't sing anymore and has ruined her voice."
Her voice appears to be virtually indestructible with or without technique. She has been blessed with a unique gift that seems to surpass rules taught in voice class. She can still sing and her voice still remains a force of nature.
