His last day is Monday the 17th. Unfortunately, he's been pretty sick the past few weeks, and hasn't been in the show for a number of performances. Hopefully he's well enough to perform his last weekend. I love his understudy, Colin Hanlon, but I think Jeremy will do all that he can to be there and do his best.

The latest update on Compulsivebowlers.com is that Jeremy is coming back Thursday 1/13 as Roger.

do you guys think the lotto will be packed this weekend? My friend is coming up from Virginia and she really wants to see the show!

So my weekend began Saturday morning with my plane to NYC having a flat tire and I started to wonder if I was making a huge mistake. I mean I had seen Jeremy play Roger 13 times and to go again seems a bit obsessive but hey I am a compulsivebowler so... Anyway I made it to lotto just in time to win a ticket for Saturday's matinee. YEAH! Only to find out that someone else was Roger. UUGHH!! My credit card bill suddenly entered my thoughts. But in some odd way it was probably good that I saw someone else as Roger. The whole time I kept thinking Jeremy does this or that. I did notice some things that I missed because I was usually focused on Jeremy. The best was how Justin/Angel walks off stage after "dying". Wow such dignity and that last backward glance is perfection. Also at one point near the beginning, Benny looks up Angel's skirt and Angel is all "how could you".
That gets us to Saturday's evening performance. Thank goodness I warned the guys sitting next to me that I might be a bit enthusiastic because as soon as Jeremy walked on stage I let out this scream of relief. Now in my defense I was sure that there were other people in the audience that would chime in but evidentially they didn't. The guy next to me said something like "you ARE excited." I do believe that I was the only person in the audience that night that knew the meaning of participatory audience so by the end of the show I was feeling VERY self conscious. And a bit worried the lotto guys would say "we dont want your kind here."
Which gets us to Sunday. The audience was much better and I was more subdued. I think.
Jeremy looked like he felt better than he did Saturday. But after the matinee he seemed to not really want to do the autograph thing but someone spotted him all wrapped up and he ended up signing a few autographs.
And here is the most amazing part of the weekend. The Sunday evening show started with one girl sitting about mid way ORCH Left throwing her arms in the air and proclaiming "YES" when Jeremy walked on stage. (Doesn't seem so silly after all). After the show tons of people went outside for autographs. (Anyone who felt bad for getting tickets to Sunday rather than Monday, dont.) There was a high school group of about 3 bus loads that had evidentially raised a ton of BC/EFA money and got an audience with the RENT cast. Which kept the rest of us outside in the cold. When the cast started coming out of the theatre you would have thought the Beatles had reunited. I have never seen such a teenie-booper frenzy. I understand why some actors shun giving autographs. We can be a pretty scary group. When Drew came out they swarmed him with one girl crying and shaking because she got to see him. I even heard someone yell "Drew I want to have your baby." Oh, wait, I think that might have been me, sorry Lea got caught up in the moment. Anyway Jeremy was the last one to come out of the theatre. By this time most of us had been waiting a good while. And it was COOOOLLLLDDD. The part I remember about this was all these people patiently waiting, some very young and some no so young and Jeremy spoke to each person as if they were the most important person in the world. Most people were "if you dont mind can we take a picture." He stayed there until everyone got their pictures etc. And we were there when they started turning off the lights to Nederlander and Drew came out of Hotel 41 where the rest of the cast was waiting and said something like "Arent you coming".. Which I have to wonder if that wasn't his way to get Jeremy out of the cold. And the one word to sum up all of this is "Devotion." This was all demonstrated Monday night when a lot of the same people came to see the show again. And we waited outside in the cold for more pictures.
All in all it was great to meet other people that think as much of Jeremy as I do. Phone Numbers, business cards, and email addresses were exchanged with promises of meeting up at the next gig. Even though I personally think it is a good thing for Jeremy's career to move to the next level, I cant help thinking that RENT just lost the best Roger they will ever have.

Saw him a few months ago, and fell in LOVE with his Roger. Gonna miss ya, Jeremy.

He's supposed to head into the recording studio and work on a new CD. Hopefully he will decide to go into another show. Or another movie like The Adulterer. Yeah, I could deal with that. But another show would be ideal. Where he dances. Because he must dance. Because dancing is not a crime.

Jeremy had a gig scheduled in January, but it's been postponed, so you might want to look out for that, check his website.
otherwise, he is going to be recording his next CD. And hopefully doing some gigs once in a while so he won't be completely hidden in the studio!

I so wish I could have been there for Jeremy's last. I loved his Roger and he will definitely be missed.

From my "jeremy's last" review:
1) The powerhouse last performances of Jeremy Kushnier and Krystal L. Washington were brought to a huge peak in "Your Eyes". Jeremy sang the song as if no one were in the room but he and Krystal. His song was touched with such meaning and deliberate sorrow, that when they finally collapsed into each other's arms, upon Mimi's "reawakening", there was nothing for them to do but hold one another.
Jeremy Kushnier (Roger) - From the first note, he was on fire. Emotion very early on from him, and never let go. His OSG is the best out there, if just for the tiny moment he realizes himself and sings, vengefully "a YOUNG man". He is absolutely darling and fliratious in LMC, and a fine actor in "Another Day". He took the line "she doesn't see" on a riff off the last note, and held much of the audience (at least the whole lottery crowd) in his wake. From the get go of the second act, there were tears behind everything, but not unnecessarily. He stood in the ICY(R) line with two lines streaming down his face, but never once broke character. "What You Own" and "Goodbye Love" really show off his acting chops, and as I mentioned, "Your Eyes" was beyond what I've ever imagined that song to be. Magical.

I was there on sunday night! I also waited outside and though it was cold, it was great to finally meet Jeremy. He will truely be missed! The crowd was amazing which was nice. And thanks for clarifying the busses!

I got to see Jeremy in one last performance it had to be done, so while every one in the U.K was getting ready for Christmas, I was on a plane. Could'nt believe I almost missed the start, I was staying in a hotel closest to Nederlander than ever before and blow me if I don't get held up.
Jeremy was fantastic I love his voice it just has so much passion that's like born of anger - totaly electric performance.

His latest gig was meant to be on the 13th of Jan but was postponed (I think due to illness) I had ran out of money and had to return to the U.K by then anyway, and of course go to work. It is going to be sometime before I get to N.Y again but I live in hope to time my next visit when he is gigging.

I have heard yes - as yet not had the privellage.
While I'm here I heard the Jeremy was in a movie called Once a Thief - can anyone confirm and tell me more if it was him. I know he was in a film called The Adulterer but as yet not come across a copy, anyone seen it? Cheers
