Jerry and Carol at the Tonys?

This was mentioned here before and I am hopeful it might happen. Maybe part of this whole Dolly number mystery? Maybe Dollypop will know.

Imagine Carol presenting the TONY for Best Leading Actress in a Musical to BETTE?

Jerry and Carol at the Tonys?

I was thinking more as in part of a tribute that would have Bette in the red dress , performing, and would make everyone happy ,

If this happened it would be the moment of the evening. I know Carol is well enough for travel. Don't know about how frail Jerry is these days.

Jerry and Carol at the Tonys?

Jerry Herman lives in Miami. He's not in great health, and he no longer flies. He was unable to attend the opening of Hello Dolly, so I'd say it's doubtful he would make the long train trip up for the Tonys.

"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe." -John Guare, Landscape of the Body

There was hopeful talk of him doing this in a earlier thread.

Yes, there was talk that he might attend the opening. But he was unable to. That was the point of my post.

Would Dollypop know? He's been spending the last few weeks swearing up and down that they'd be doing "The Waiter's Gallop."

"...everyone finally shut up, and the audience could enjoy the beginning of the Anatevka Pogram in peace."

I think he has been passing info as he knows it. He might know.

Hell, we have more a chance of seeing 96 year-old Carol Channing perform as Dolly than Bette now. I wouldn't put it past her:
