I am going to L.A. with some of my cousins on memorial weekend and I plan to sneak out and see those above mentioned shows.
The problem is...I don't drive. What would be the best way to travel from: (Buses? Train or Taxi....how much would be the trip one way from one area to another)
LAX to Ahmanson Theater(JB)?
Ahmanson Theater to Wadsworth Theater (Spelling Bee)?
Wadsworth to Pantages (Wicked)?
I have enclosed my google map for visual referrences.
Thanks for your help in advance :)
Edit:
I plan to see JB on Friday.
Spelling Bee on Saturday matinee and Wicked on Saturday night.
My itinerary (google map)

Posted: 5/8/07 at 10:48amLA transportation is really hard. I would say to rent a car but if not make sure to arrange a taxi. Public trasportant is really hard.

my first response too was rent a car, but you don't drive...the thing with taxis in l.a. is that it's not like catching a cab in nyc or something, in l.a. you have to actually call a cab ahead of time, with the exception of lax, and some of your larger hotels, that do actually have taxi stands.
And sorry, I am a little confused- are you seeing all three of these shows in one day?? Because time-wise, I don't see how you're going to do that using public transport in l.a.
You could possibly catch a bus on Wilshire from Chinatown to the Wadsworth, I'm just not sure how much walking at each end of the bus line that would involve.
I think there's a subway stop near where you want to be in Chinatown, but even is it is there, it would involve getting on a bus at lax and then taking it to the first of two or three trains to get to that area by subway. again, if it even stops in that area. Mta.net will get you the l.a. subway website.

"LAX to Ahmanson (JB) in Chinatown?
Chinatown to Wadsworth Theater (Spelling Bee)?
Wadsworth to Pantages (Wicked)?"
You're going to have to arrange for taxis or a car service if you do not rent a car. The Ahmanson is not in Chinatown, it is downtown, and much closer to the Pantages in Hollywood than to the Wadsworth in Westwood. The Wadsworth is particularly hard to access as it is on the grounds of the VA facility - you'll have to leave the VA grounds to get a bus on Wilshire unless you arrange for a cab to pick you up in front of the theater. There should be websites to access bus routes and figure out transfers but if you can rent a car, or find a friend to drive you around, you'll do much better. Good luck.

Posted: 5/8/07 at 3:06pmtime...thanks for the correction. How much cab fare are we talking about each way...considering it's not too much traffic? Thanks.

What area are you staying in? L.A. is HUGE and it would be easier to help you with advice and directions if you gave us a starting point.
PS - If your show schedule isn't set in stone it would be easier to do Bee on Friday and Wicked matinee Sat/JB evening. There is probably a metro that goes from Downtown right to the Pantages.

Thank you Popular!!! You are always very helpful.
I found a very cheap motel in San Pedro but that would be very far from the action...so I am thinking of getting one near downtown so I would be near the metro or the subway near the Ahmanson.
Thanks for your suggestion...makes more sense (though JB first show in LA is on the 25th.)
I will go and check the metro's website now.

You're welcome! Don't confuse yourself with the Metro website.
All you need to know is the Red Line to get from Downtown (Civic Center stop) to Hollywood (Hollywood/Vine stop)
Red Line

if you stay downtown, that knocks 2/3 since you can take the red line to Hollywood/Vine for Wicked
but Spelling Bee's going to be your tough one, there's an "express" bus 720 you can take from Wilshire Downtown all the way to the VA

Posted: 5/8/07 at 8:14pmFor what you are planning to do, I would say stay at hotel downtown. They are cheaper on the weekends because they cater to business people. The metro lets out right in front of the Pantages and you can take that from downtown. I believe its a couple of blocks from the Ahmanson.. Sorry I couldn't be more help but I drive everywhere, except when I got to NYC.
