TicketBoy,
I'm so happy to hear that Jesse is doing well on his new show. I will be watching "The Class" JUST for him. I have no interest in the show, but I think he is a really wonderful actor. He just really makes me smile - even on the 30 second previews! re: Jesse Tyler Ferguson?

You said the story is well-written - can you relate it to another show that we've seen. Is it similar to another sitcom we are familiar with? Does Jesse have a large part? It looks like an ensemble cast, would you agree.

So, that was the Drowsy Chaperone. Oh, I love it so much. I know it's not a perfect show...but it does what a musical is supposed to do. It takes you to another world, and it gives you a little tune to carry with you in your head for when you're feeling blue. Ya know?

CBS is now running a series of 30 second promos for "The Class" that use a spelling bee theme. Gee - I wonder where they came up with that idea?

hermionejukiet,

It's definitely an ensemble show. In fact, I might actaully say that the ensemble is too large, or at least it feels like it at times. There are 6 main characters, but they each have relationships with other people (spouses, mothers, etc.) who are in the show regularly. In fact, looking at the script, it looks like there are 11 regular characters which is a LOT to keep track of.

Of course it will draw comparisons to FRIENDS, but they have their differences. While all of the FRIENDS knew each other and hung out, on THE CLASS, these people are just starting to see each other for the first time in 10-20 years [which I guess is kind of how FRIENDS started out, but not really]. At this point in the season, they aren't really hanging out with each other, but with one or two other people from "the class" and trying to re-establish those relationships. [I'm sure this will change as the story line progresses] Both shows are definitely character oriented, and much less situation oriented, IMO. Also, THE CLASS is a serial commedy, so story arcs last for more than one episode. I would say that there really isn't anything like this show on the air at the moment.

Jesse has a fairly large part, well, as large as you could get in an ensemble of 6-11 people. He definitely has a large amount of air time [at least in the episode that was just taped]. I have a feeling the writers will continue to write him fairly large parts in each episode. Like I said, he's the funniest in the cast.
