I'm sorry if this has been asked before but I couldn't find the thread. Is Jessie Mueller playing the piano herself in Beautiful or is she mimicking? Thanks

She's actually playing the music, she has said so in interviews. Their conductor, Jason Howland plays with her though and the sound you hear is from Jason. They even have a small camera in the side of the piano so Jason can watch her on it and make sure he's in sync with her. Updated On: 2/22/14 at 11:12 PM

Does Jessie Mueller perform on every show? Or Rebecca replace her on certain days?

Does anyone know if and when she has scheduled vacation?

Rebecca LaChance has only gone on once in New York and it was unexpected. Jessie doesn't have any planned vacations at the moment. You should be safe expecting to see her.

I don't have a big interest in seeing this show, but I'm so glad to see that Beautiful is doing so well at the box office. Jessie Mueller is a wonderfully talented actress and I'm happy that she's gotten such a high profile gig. In a couple of seasons, I can see her being as big as Sutton.

I just tried to get tickets for March 26 and telecharge had a notice up "please be advised that Jessie Mueller will not appear at this performance"

same for march 25, 27

My friend and I are going to try and rush this on Sunday (our first time attempting to rush... Kind of nerve-wracking)! Literally only want to see this for Mueller!

ohhh son of a monkey. I just bought a ticket earlier this week, and it's for that very week in March!

Is Jessie Mueller above the title by chance?

Mueller isn't above the title, but I imagine they might be understanding about refunds if they've added a notice to the performances she is out for. A friend of mine happened to go to the show the one day she was physically unable to go on and they were really nice about swapping her ticket.

She was pretending or, to put it another way, she was acting and the actual piano playing was performed 'live' by the MD. If you want to see somebody act, sing AND play the piano as Carole King then head to London where Katie Brayben gives a faultless performance at The Aldwych in the lead role. Her chord progressions on 'You've Got A Friend' are simply divine.

Is the sound really coming out of the piano Katie Brayben is playing? For the entire performance? That's impressive!

While the sound wasn't coming out of the piano that Jessie Mueller played, she was for all intents and purposes playing the piano and the proper chords. While she knew how to play before she got the part, in interviews she said she had to practice quite a bit.

She didn't write them...

It's my understanding that Katie Brayben is not playing the piano, in the same way that no other Caroles "play". They all mimic the music but the sound is coming from the MD.

The piano is being fed from the MD in London. I could see the MD in the pit from the grand circle slips when I saw the show
