All these newbies. All this wimpy flaming. My head is spinning. I'm confused. I heart you, Spider('s woman - dammit, I'm a straight lady! I am!).
Hard to say which recording's my favorite, but I tell ya, the current tour, with Eric Kunze and the late Carl Anderson, was phenom. The singing, acting, everything rocked. It's one of the only ALW musicals I truly love.

Posted: 8/20/04 at 12:31amI also love the Australian recording. It is so fun. And JCS is ALW's masterpiece. Hands down. Then POTO, then EVITA, then SONG AND DANCE (with Marti Webb)

Agreed w/ POTO and to an extent Evita. It's his 3rd best, but a distance third after POTO. I've never heard Song & Dance before. And Joseph... and Cats were just...words need not explain.
(PS. There's an Aussie CR?)

96 London soundtrack is the best.
Movie soundtrack is the worst.
This is ALW's masterpiece but THEN comes Starlight, Whistle, Evita.

#21re: Jesus Christ Superstar
Posted: 8/20/04 at 12:39amI doubt anyone will say the movie is better than the recent video.

I haven't seen the new DVD but I've heard the CD and I'm not a big fan. Too...over-produced, if that makes sense. I enjoyed the movie soundtrack much more. (Carl Anderson, people!) And Ted Neely's Gesthemane (sp?) gets me every time.
Edited to ask: Did anyone see Sebastian Bach as Jesus on tour?
