I just watched JCS DVD and saw that Jerome PRadon had the rather large role of Judas, though didn't play him on Broadway.
I have this guy on CD on the Les Mis '91 Revival Paris Cast Recording.
Awesome.
Anyway, what are all your thoughts on the DVD?
I love Jerome Pradon's performance on the DVD! I thought he was a better actor than the guy who portrayed Christ.
yes, although the original (second revival original) Judas, CASny's very own Tony Vincent was in the video, too.

Mm, same here. Thenardier, who was he in Les Mis?
Marius.
I think he may have been on Broadway. I know Robert Marien (who was the Valjean was also the 10th Anniversary Broadway JVJ).

Jerome was great and so was Renee Castle. I saw her in The Lion King in Toronto. She was excellent.
He was Marius in Paris, then later returned to Les Miz as a very good but very bizarre Javert in London a few years ago.
I think the role of Judas was a bit out of his vocal range, but his acting more than makes up for it.
I cannot stand Jerome Pradon, I think that he is complete rubbish. He makes a mockery of the role with his nasaly and whiney voice, and I thought that he had a very inacurate portrayal of Judas.

Thought he was brilliant in JCS. I saw him playing Javert in Les Mis in London a while back... totally amazing. Really nice guy too!

Well, to my recollection, and grant it, it was long ago, I don't think we dressed like that back in the day.
So.....he was very rockish - is voice did get annoying, occasionally, BUT I liked it more than the guy on the concept.

Yeah, and the (newer) video is the only version of Jesus Christ, Superstar I've ever seen, so I don't have anything to compare him to. Maybe I should've mentioned that before... Whups.

I don't think you can really have an inacurate portrayal of a character in a play. I mean, it could be different and maybe that isn't the portrayal you prefer, but that doesn't make it inacurate.
I've only seen one, heard two (including Jerome)....
You guys simply must here Ben Vereen as Judas, or Carl Anderson.
Let me explain though, I didn't like Jerome's portrayal of Judas, I though he didn't represent the character well enough. The passion wasn't there, it felt fake. Watch Carl Anderson, and you'll hear passion.
Jerome's voice can be very good as a matter of fact depending on what he is asked to sing. I was awesome in Napoleon in Toronto. There is something very sad about him. Here in France nobody knows him. He did NINE a few years ago. The show was a huge flop although it was great. He is now doing CHANCE in Paris in a small theater. Jerome is a sweet heart and I am not saying that because we have the same firstname. His renditions of some songs are just great. He was an awesome villain in Martin Guerre.
Jerome's site
he was also featuring in Les Miz TAC. If you look hard enough, you will find him. Haha, he was so young at that time.

He's Courfeyrac, right? If he had that many hand motions for Javert...eek.
I think Jerome is great on the DVD but the role should have gone to Tony. I guess I'm biased or whatever but he was so fantastic in the 2000 Broadway revival and he steals the show as Simon on the DVD. his Judas was a bit younger and more naive than Jerome's and I think that added an interesting quality to the role. either way though, I love them both. Tony does have a more satisfying vocal range for the part and Jerome will always come off as struggling to hit those notes... but Jerome acts the part very well... I dunno... Tony got to sing Judas on that Andrew Lloyd Webber Beijing thing on PBS so I'm happy...
Tony was a good Simon, I thought.
Jerome did a great job as Marius on the Paris Recording.
I have seen Carl Anderson portray Judas in the movie and live onstage with Ted Neeley, Irene Cara and Dennis DeYoung and I have to say...as awesome a performer as he was, I enjoyed Jerome Pradon's Judas more.
