Onward Victoria, the musical about Victoria Woodhull - the first female Presidential candidate (1872) - that closed on its opening night in 1980, will receive a concert at 54 Below on July 19th. Original stars Jill Eikenberry, Bethe Austin and Lenny Wolpe will reprise their roles.

Surprised no one else has chimed in about this.  I was there last night (as someone who has always loved flop musicals) and thought the entire evening was excellent.  I do own the cast recording, but I confess, I rarely listen to it.  The concert last night, will put the recording back on my regular list.

It was amazing to see some of the original cast members from 1980 there singing their hearts out and reminiscing about their one-night on Broadway.  It was also nice seeing the composer, who accompanied Jill Eikenberry for one song "Another Time, Another Place," which was beautiful.

This was also my first time ever at 54 Below, which is a wonderful venue for these types of concerts.  I'm really glad I went and I look forward to Charlie and Algernon in September and more lesser-known musical concert versions in the future!

I saw this in previews at the (then) Martin Beck, and thought it was a total piece of garbage.  Some shows should just be let die for the sake of all concerned.  But I am glad you enjoyed it.  Maybe as a reminiscence, it could be more entertaining...not having to listen to the book and I assume some of the awful songs that they were not in.
