lol, i like how he isn't telling how the "swimming" effect is created but it's been posted on here for over a week
also if they had planned the whole cast reveal suprise thing, why didn't they tell the father not to tell?

Yes, he loves to be negative about the company he professes to love.
And for all we know, he found out about how they are doing the swimming effects from this board, wouldn't that be funny?

Will the surprise at BEAUTY's last performance be that THE LITTLE FISH GIRL needs more tuna-ing and BEAUTY ain't goin'?
I hear Schumaker will let BEAUTY (which is not his show) go out with a whimper and not a BEASTLY roar.
Anyone who reads the boards knows that the fish will be on some kinda roller skate heelies, He is so 3 months ago with his non news.
And the casting of Sherie Renee and Norm Lewis are already controversial.
And No one ever heard of the lead till her Father opened his proud mouth.
And she will be working for just above "scale".
Who would your little girl like to be?
BEAUTY, the Princess or a fish?
Just asking.

Posted: 2/12/07 at 11:07pmCurtain, first, Little Mermaid is a princess. And second, the chick has a lead role in a new big Broadway show. I think any father would be proud. I'm not saying I'm all for Mermaid coming to Broadway, I could care less about the Disney musicals, but I mean, I can understand someone's excitement.

They have nothing planned so far.
They are too worried about selling tickets to TARZAN and POPPINS.
Rentboy, that is not the point
Of course her Dad is Proud, but the DISNEY machine must have had a cow when he went to the press.

Maybe they *finally* found their Eric and can announce!!!
But yeah, seriously. I bet they sent out their trained ninjas to silence the man. He's probably being tortured in the dark corner of Its A Small World in Florida.
"Tortured" meaning chained to the wall and being forced to endure those incessant little puppets sing that damn song over and over...
*shudder*

Oh, I bet. I'm sure that ruined everything. I can't wait for the tension on opening night when her father is sitting there all glowey eyed and the Disney execs are just starring him down.
I'm about fed up with the Disney machine churning out sh*t. Lion King was okay. I saw the show, but I didn't really feel like it was brillance like everyone else. Apart from the visuals, the show is seriously lacking. Tarzan is just an embarassment, and Beauty has run its course. Why not through all your bajillions of dollars into some new creative musical to get back on the good graces of Broadway lovers.

Well I, along with many other theatre fans are hoping they do just that.
As far as the "alleged" talent goes (Sherie Rene Scott, Norm Lewis, Titus, etc.), I think they're on their way to doing it...

I'm not talking financially. Obviously, financially they're all doing just fine. I'm all for theater as art, and I just don't see it with their shows. They do some beautiful stuff in their parks, but I have yet to see any of it on the Broadway stage.
And I agree that Norm Lewis is great, but I have my doubts about this show. In the end, if nothing, it will be pretty to watch.

They are hiring talented people , of course, but Rebecca Luker, Daniel Jenkins and Cass Morgan were totally overlooked when POPPINS opened because everyone talked about the "house" and the flying.

Though I have never seen it on stage, everyone I have spoken to who has seen it said that The Lion King was the most visually stunning Broadway show they have seen... and, as you stated above, you (at least partly) agree. With Beauty, Tarzan, and Poppins, there really isn't much to work with from the movies as far as "visuals" go (well, Tarzan has the jungle, and a few scenes from the Broadway show almost impressed me..., and I haven't seen Poppins.), so you can't exactly blame them for that.
As far as scenic caliber goes in the transfer from screen to stage, Mermaid has the most potential to be a beautiful scenic experience since Lion King... I think we just have to wait and see on this one. Hit or Miss, I guess...

THE LION KING did look beautiful in the New Amsterdam, but now it just looks like the big Puppet show it is.
The rumour is it will be on TKTS soon.
MovieGuy yer still cute.
Come to NYC and I will take you to the LION KING when it's on tkts.

Threadjack!
So, he alludes to some big things planned for BATB's closing...I'm guessing they are gonna film and release it. I mean, Princess-Mania is going strong, they have one of their own stars, and it's the landmark show. I'll buy it.

Posted: 2/13/07 at 6:19pmI just read the article. He makes it sound like the whole performing arts center was renovated to become state of the art. We have been state of the art. But the old Auditorium Theatre (Which is now the Ellie Caulkins Opera House) is what was recently renovated. Not the whole center.
