I agree with BrodyFosse123 and Kad.
If there is an emergency, it is not the time to be on your phone. You need to be paying attention to whatever is happening and directions from theater staff. If half everyone is on their phone checking in with family or posting on social media, that could slow down the process of keeping everyone safe. Outside of an emergency like that, if you need to use your phone they have Yondr staff in the lobbies to unlock your phone for use and lock it back when you are done. I have noticed at Yondr shows that they have also had staff at the bars and Merch if you need to tap and pay with your phone.
And bottom line is, you are there to see a show, not to be texting, filming or checking social media. In most cases you have an intermission to do that. My phone gets powered off 5 to 10 minutes before curtain and a lot of times I don't turn it back on until I am leaving the theater at the end of the performance. JMO
