I am reluctant to generalize about an actor's personality because of a few seconds outside a stage door. I hear and see frequently, "Oh he us just the nicest person". Well, that's a bit much for a few seconds of interaction.
on the other hand, I am tempted to draw this conclusion with John Gallagher Jr. I'm pretty shy but do the stage door thing anyway, and often blurt out something stupid.
After Spring Awakening, the crowd was pretty much gone. Gallagher came out. I guess I was the last one to get an autograph. Well, they guy just stopped and chatted with me. I couldn't believe it. I kept expecting him to head off down the street but he seemed like he really was doing what he wanted to do, chat. What a nice guy!

I can attest that he is a very grounded, genuinely nice individual.
