Great to see Lord Farquaad at tonight's performance having a great time and chatting to a few people before the show and at intermission.
As the on stage Farquaad appeared on stage on a horse in act 2, he pull it to a stop saying 'Whooow Lithgow Woooow' which created a huge audience laugh and a few giggles on stage!
Oh! and the show is fantastic! Brilliant fun and will only get better before its opening. Lots of tweaks to be made but it knocks spots off 'The Little Mermaid' and puts 'Mary Poppins' to shame!

Posted: 11/18/08 at 12:14amI was there this evening as well. Thoroughly enjoyed it! So far it is the best musical in terms of integrating song with plot. Brian D James is fantastic, loved Sutton. Daniel Breaker and Christopher Seiber steal the show. The songs are really fun, and it's a great show for kids and adults alike. I saw John Lithgow too.

Posted: 11/18/08 at 12:29amI was there this evening as well. In all, a decent evening, mainly because Act One had a lot of strong points. Regrettably, Act Two was a bit of an implosion. But I do think that Christopher Sieber and Daniel Breaker were the true stars of the show.

I thought the show was cute, but didn't enjoy it half as much as everyone else around me did. Though it did seem as if about 80% of the audience were not regular theatre-goers. Which is great and I hope they keep the show open. But, for me, I guess I'm the wrong demographic.
But I agree that Daniel Breaker and Christopher Sieber are the stars of the show.
However, I think The Little Mermaid is better scenic-wise. I really wish there was more to Shrek than what was presented.

Oh, I didn't love it either and didn't get why everyone around me was roaring with laughter? Still, better than Spamalot and Young Frankenstein, worse than Wicked (and Im not a Wicked lover, I thought it was okay) and no where near as inventive as Avenue Q or Lion King.
But Breaker and Seiber were AMAZING.
The cast of 13 were all over the place in the audience too in the Mezz.
Saw Lithgow too and watched him watch Seiber for a bit but until this post, I totally forgot he WAS Lord Farquaad. Now his reactions make even more sense!

is that Lithgow line always in the show, or only because John was spotted at intermission?

I wish this show well. Talented cast and a show with potential.

bwaybud,
I think Sieber changes the name of the horse practically every show, so I'm sure the Lithgow reference was special.

Posted: 11/18/08 at 4:53pmThe f****** kids from '13' were all over the theatre and if thats the future audience of Broadway, God help us! Someone needs to teach them some theatre manners. I know 2 people who complained about their behaviour and the house manager was really pissed because they all had been given comps!

Posted: 11/18/08 at 5:41pmDon't start bull**** rumors, I was there also and saw all of the kids acting perfectly fine. Maybe you should be worrying more about the kids yelling out during the show, and various flash photos.

It ain't a rumor as I was standing next to the manager when people approached OK!
They were talking all thru the show and 4 or more people asked to be moved which the manager did without hesitation. I'm only stating a fact which you obviously wernt witness to ! Get over it!

I sat behind two of the actors in 13 and they talked through most of Act 2 and made snooty comments about the show. The guy sitting next to them looked as if he was going to knock their block off.
I still say the show is very good, the songs work well with the show and did not bring it down. The actors are very very good and the production values are really good! We will see how the critics feel.

Those kids were dreadful.
I'd like to be there on their closing night and talk all the way thru it!
They got given comps and behaved that way in front of people who payed up to $120 each!
I hope someone who knows them reads this and passes it on!

Imagine if he actually had gone through with it?
