I am looking for an album recording of the movie version from 2000. There is apparently a very rare CD but I don't know if it would be just as good as extracting audio from the DVD that I have. Does anyone have the soundtrack CD and is it any better than straight audio from the DVD? The DVD audio has the cheering children and other little sounds that interfere with the music. The mixing isn't great either.  That's all, thanks!

wouldn’t it be a soundtrack?

I came to say the same thing. I realize it is silly and maybe a but petty, but I just don't understand why it is so hard for folks to understand the difference between a soundtrack and a cast recording.

I have the CD and it is better than the DVD audio. As far as I can tell it is the original studio recordings used in the film without the sound effects and cheering children with the exception of the first track where it does still open with the sound of the children taking their seats. It’s a nice recording to own since it includes the dance music in “One More Angel in Heaven” and “Those Canaan Days,” but the megamix is the abridged version used for the end credits rather than the full length version performed in the show. Overall, as far as vocals and performances go, I still prefer the Los Angels recording with Michael Damian and Kelli Rabke.
