I looked all over to see if this post already existed, but I cannot find it anywhere, so please no one get upset if it does already exist.

I have tickets to see The Great Comet on a Tuesday in January. I saw online there is a long list of dates that Josh won't be performing, but that isn't on the list. I know some bigger named celebrities will do things like take Tuesdays and matinees off, and what have you. Anyone know if that is something Josh is doing? I feel like it would be on the website, since they already list a huge list of dates he's not doing, but I figured I'd ask the forum.

Thanks! :)

He performs at every show except the ones noted in advance or in case of illness/injury.

The fact that there is no exceptions listed, means he doesn't have any (aside from the announced days out).  Does that guarantee he'll be there? No, but odds are pretty good.   He already fought a bought of illness.

They would announce their schedule in advance, either way, though. Short of him being sick, you should be fine.

We saw it during previews, and I couldn't believe this huge, major star would undertake this incredibly demanding performance/schedule. From what I've seen in the media, he is completely dedicated, and is unlikely to miss a performance. What a champ!

Similarly, all the cast & crew work heroically the whole show. They used to say that James Brown was "The hardest working man in show business." I say The Great Comet is "The hardest working show in show business."

And it's really great. Have fun!

Even if you miss Groban- his understudy, Scott Stangland, performed the role in Boston and is wonderful in it.  And on his scheduled off days over the summer (I believe 10 performances over the course of May/June) Dave Molloy, the composer, will be performing!

I just spent over 30 minutes searching this site for Josh Groban's announced performances that he is missing this spring, and I can't find them anywhere. I know they are here somewhere, because I remember reading about the planned dates. If anyone can help me with the dates, that would be great...thank you!!

I have a ticket for tomorrow night but I'm not confident that he'll have recovered from his fever enough to be in the show tomorrow. How would I go about exchanging my ticket for another night?

Not sure you can trade dates on your supposition that he might be sick tomorrow, but I'd call Telecharge with a future date you want to book and see what they say. Usually, you have to show up and see if he's up on the board...

Should I go in the morning when the box office opens or should I go a little before the performance?

Technically, actors don't have to call out until 1/2 hour.  (30 minutes before curtain)   Going in the morning may not be able to give you an answer.

I'd try Telecharge tonight and just do the exchange to be safe. Otherwise, the box office isn't really going to know until close to showtime...

I had to leave the house after my last post but I'll try calling tomorrow. Thanks for the advice. Worst case scenario, I go there tomorrow night and see the show without him. I'm sure I'll enjoy it more or less the same, I just wanted to do what I could to try and see him because he's part of the reason I paid what I did for the ticket.

He also stagedoors like every single night, adding on a significant amount of extra time to his nights. Truly trying to get the most out of the experience and give back to his fans.

Telecharge just told me they could try and do a return and repurchase right now but it would be at the discretion of the box office because he hasn't called out of the show yet. So I'm supposed to wait until 5pm the curtain is at 7) to call back and check.

Thank you for keeping us updated . Was thinking of trying the lottery tomorrow with friends.  Really want them to see Groban though. Does anyone know when you have to purchase the lottery tickets by? Not that I'm expecting to win! Just want an option not to buy if Josh is out.

Speaking of, does anyone know where the lottery seats are located?

He was off when I saw it Sunday. His standby wasn't very good- and the same for the show. How has it got these decent reviews? It's a tedious hash that looked like a bunch if high school students putting on a show.

at least if Groban had been in it, it may have seemed less tedious.

I was in 2nd row rear mezz on the left side with 2 tickets but I think they're all over the place.

Someone reported on ATC board that they received a Telecharge email that Groban is out tonight.

OK, last update! Hopefully this ends up being useful to someone. I decided to check the Telecharge website again and it's been updated to say that Josh Groban is out tonight. So I called and I was able to switch my ticket to another night. They cancelled the first order and processed a new one. It was as easy as any other phone transaction.

On Sunday I got an email in the morning saying he was out that day and I could rebook my tickets for another performance.

I do think it's really good they offered that.. it's certainly not a given that they would. When I arrived for the show there was a huge queue for refunds/exchanges so at least they acknowledge lots of people have booked purely for him.
