Posted: 4/7/07 at 1:11pmI saw Journey's end last week and though it was pretty good. I think I would have enjoyed it better if the theater Staff wasn't so rude and hostile. I went down to the bathroom before the show started. As I was waiting on line i noticed a large hole in the wall, like someone punched it in. On my way back to the seat I told a woman who was just standing in the back directing people to aisles. She said tell the head usher and she pointed him out to me. Then I went over to him and he said to me "what do you want me to do about it?" He was just rude and nasty? Don't you think they would be interested in a large hole in the wall? What is the restoration fee for? At intermission I tried to find the manager but couldn't. An usher told me that she doen't like to deal with the patrons and hides. NICE

Posted: 4/7/07 at 2:31pmEquity has been giving away comps to this show for awhile.. So I doubt its gonna last very long... I saw it a couple weeks ago.. and I enjoyed the performances...really amazing actually.. I wouldn't want to do a two show day of that.. geez.. Equity again was giving tickets and a friend of mine wanted to go so I went again... I have to say... I liked it better than the first time.. Hugh and Stark and Jefferson as well as Boyd.. all deserve tony noms.. and though I longend for a rousing Tap Number.. I enjoyed the play sooo much. Well done guys

"I have also met him in person, and I find him to be quite funny actually. Arrogant and often misinformed, but still funny."

I finally saw this play today and agree with what everyone else has been saying. This show is brilliant and so emotionally draining. It's not often that I cry at shows but I had tears streaming down my face at the end. It was that final image. I don't want to give it away for those who haven't seen it, but that very last 30 seconds just pushed me over the edge. I had no idea the show would hit me so hard. Hugh Dancy is phenomenal, & Gaines and Sands are wonderful as well. I really hope to see Dancy & the show nominated for some Tony's.
On a side note, I did student rush and got there at around 12:45pm for the 2pm show and got Orchestra N-21 on the side, not front row. The seats were fine for such a small production but I did have trouble hearing some of the dialogue.

i have to agree with the ushers being rude for this show. there's already been reports on this board about people saying that they basically told them the show sucked and that it was boring (prior to them ever even sitting down).
i, for one, LOVED it. Stark Sands and Hugh Dancy deliver some incendiary performances

When I saw this show two weeks ago the ushers were rude but the actors made up for everything. This show is truly an intelligent piece of theatre at its best. Hugh Dancy, Boyd Gaines & Jefferson Mays were all superb! I do hope this show does not close. Its one of the best shows I have seen in 2007.
I too was in tears especially at the end. Bring plenty of kleenex if you are going to see this show.

Posted: 4/15/07 at 11:39ami saw the show for the 2nd time during yesterdays matinee. i'm really hoping this show could stay running for a bit longer, though judging by the empty mez, it may be wishful thinking. i got student tickets, 2nd row center orchestra after arriving a little after 10:30.

I absolutely agree with all of the positive sentiments regarding "Journey's End." I went last night after hearing only raves from friends and a few theatre professionals. While I consider myself a sophisticated theatregoer, I found myself succumbing to the same sorts of celebrity obssession that a lot of theatregoers nowadays seem to indulge in over the past few weeks, and "Journey's End" was an absolute surprise winner!
It's nothing big or splashy, just sparse (but effective) sets and lighting (and especially sound effects) and a group of exquisite actors, but I was absolutely shaken to the core (physically and emotionally) by the end of the play. I really felt I'd come to know the characters, which is an underrated asset for a play.
Had no idea who the author even was until I looked it up just now (R.C. Sherriff). Definitely a surprise, and definitely worth checking out. Word of mouth should be propelling this show!
