Well even if it's true, there are reasons why an official press release hasn't been made yet and we should respect that and just be patient. Trust me, I'm just as curious as the next person about who Steph's replacement is!

Posted: 12/21/05 at 2:38amI rescind my statement. What I actually mean is that rumors are just that: rumors. We can discuss them all we want, but if somebody starts "confirming" them, and then if they don't turn out to be true, many people become upset over the supposed confirmation. We honestly don't know if Murney will be Elphie, it's fun to discuss how fabulous it would be if she will be, but if someone says that they heard it's true, then hype grows until something official is posted one way or the other. Oh hell, I'm not even making sense to myself. It's almost 1:45 in the morning and it's winter break. Just bah, nevermind. All I can say is that I hope that this is true!

Posted: 12/21/05 at 11:33amI first heard "Defying Gravity" in at the Duplex when Storefront did a Stephen Schwartz revue. Schwartz came up on stage with Julia and she wailed out this number. It was pretty thrilling and her belt is crazy. This was the NYC debut of the song, I believe. I'm sure she'll be great wherever they put her.

Posted: 12/21/05 at 1:27pmI'd always heard that Murney was reluctant to accept out of town gigs because of her very lucrative voice over career in NYC. But maybe the lure of the Green Witch is enough to make her take six months off from that!

Posted: 12/21/05 at 2:13pmI would also luff to see Julia in this role if it happens. I'm seeing the tour in June, July, and August. If it is going to be Julia, that would be amazing. I'm just curious to see who Steph's replacement is.

fosseboi, she hasn't even been offered the role on tour.
no one get excited, nothing is official or confirmed at all. there are other opportunities for someone to play elphaba and not just the tour.

i have heard talks about an LA production.
i am a little surprised that stephanie would leave the tour..but that role IS exhausting. i can't imagine she was THRILLED that she wasn't asked to go to the Bway company..but maybe she turned it down..who knows. i don't know many people who go out on tour with a broadway show (one that is currently running) who don't have the hopes of being asked to take the role to broadway. please don't anyone have nasty remarks ..i am not trying to stir up any trouble..i am just thinking outloud. i LOVE Eden and think she is amazing but it just seemed to me that Stephanie was an obvious choice to be next in line for bway...i feel disappointed FOR her. i am sure she doesn't care...so i won't either!
ANYWAY...as far as Julia Murney..she would be amazing as Elphaba! there are a lot of people who would be great in the role ..i can see Julia as an obvious choice! she is amazing!

softershade, not to sound bitchy but did you notice that I said "If she DOES accept it". Therefore I KNOW that nothings official. Here let me simpler terms: When does Stephs contract run out? I would like to know this information so that I can have an idea of who I might see as Elphaba when WICKED comes to Atlanta.
Can someone answer my question?

FosseBoi - Her contract is up in March. Exact date hasn't been announced yet but I think Cincinnati may be her last stop.
Andrew - You don't have to feel sorry or disappointed for her. Her future is bright and I'd assume at this point she's ready to move on.

Posted: 12/22/05 at 3:35amWhat kind of voice over career does Murney have? Has she done anything that I would know?

Posted: 12/22/05 at 10:30amThose demo reels are fun! Lots of Broadway babies on that list! But usually demo reels are indeed just mock commercials -- they aren't usually a compilation of actual paid voice overs. I think Julia Murney is most famous for being the voice of the Chiquita Banana.
