re: Julia Murney in Evita

Didn't we JUST do this in the "Idina as Evita" thread?

Anyway, as much as we all love Julia, she cannot play Eva Peron. Yes, she can belt high (...ish), but she also has completely uncontrolled vibrato. Do I need to do the demonstration again?

"He-e-e suppo-o-o-o-orts you-u-u for he lo-o-o-o-oves you...," etc.

I would like to see her act the role, but unless she can learn to straight tone, I would kindly ask Ms. Murney to please step away from the microphones and put down the Evita hands. Also, I really just don't think she has the range. In The Wild Party she belts MAYBE a D, I'm really just not sure she could handle the score.

Alice Ripley, on the other hand, needs to play this role NOW. That bitch can SCREAM and her voice just keeps going. If I can think of anyone who can handle a beast of a score like Evita's...it's Mrs. ARips. Exhibit A: Sideshow.

She screamed her face off (seriously, listen to her harmonies...they're up there) 8 times a week and does anyone know if she missed a performance (except for that one)? Alice Ripley now, please.

Thank you.

Oh...and Lisa Brescia for Matineva (matinee Eva). Did anyone else seriously love her at the barn on Long Island? Bring her back.

The end.
Andrew, tonight isn't about you! It isn't even about me!!! - [FD]
