Julia Roberts Stage Door - Arrival Time?

I really want to try for a picture of Julia Roberts at the stage door Thursday night (not a photo with her - just of her) and I am not attending the show that night (I have tix for June). I understand that there is a special spot for people who saw the show that night, right? What about the rest of us -- how close can we get? Also, does any know what time she arrives at the theater since it might be less crazy then.

Thanks!

Don't even attempt to try it before the show.

It's would be impossible and you might get into a scuff with her security.

FYI.. your inquiry sounds a bit stalkerish/stalkerazzi. While you may have good intentions - I would suggest waiting until you see the show or after the show. Approaching an actor - any actor - as they are going into the theater is *usually* not a good idea...

I thought the same thing. The request sounds very creepy and stalkerish.

re: Julia Roberts Stage Door - Arrival Time?

I assure you I am not a stalker. I am a regular theater goer (and regular reader although not a poster to this board) who does not collect autographs so I have no interest in getting autographs at stage doors - but it is fun to have a photo and must actors are happy to oblige. In addition, to be as least intrusive as possible, I never ask to be in the photo, even when the actor offers. I have a nice collection of snapshots -- that's all we are talking about here. I am going to see the show in June with my husband -- who hates stage doors. Since I am seeing Festen Thursday night which is across the street from Three Days of Rain, I thought it would be a good time to try for a photo. If anyone has any useful advice about the best time and place to get a photo - I'd be happy to hear it!!!

I'll add that most performers also like to either personalize autographs and/or have someone else in the picture for a reason. It's so their picture doesn't wind up where it shouldn't - like sold to the press or on ebay.

The useful advice as I said was to wait until June and get your photo after the show - not before.

I happened to be on my way to pick up my tix to Festen and walked by 3 days of rain as fans were waiting for stage door exits. I never saw such a scene. Both sides of the door were barred with barricades, and the opposite sidewalk was mobbed with gawkers. Extra police were needed to herd the crowd and direct traffic; as it was backed up for blocks. This play better be amazing because quite frankly the people of NY put up with enuff crap ona day to day basis...star gazing should not become a quality of life issue.

From reviews I've read it does NOT live up to all the insanity surrounding Miss Roberts.

Honestly I think you should probably give up on the photo. I hear she barely signs as it is, and I don't blame her as the crowd has been REALLY frenzied and badly behaved.

I have tickets for this weekend. I had no intention of waiting around at the stagedoor, but I think I'm going to leave as quickly as possible just to avoid the hoards of fans.

Does Julia come out after Wednesday matinees? Also do Bradley and Paul? I am going to be seeing Drowsy Chaperone tomorrow and would like to go to the Three Days of Rain stage door afterwards.

Julia does, but you must have Playbill proof to get into the barricades. Bradley and Paul use the alley to exit the theater.

re: Julia Roberts Stage Door - Arrival Time?

OMG! Don't even get me STARTED on "Three Days Of Rain" stage door.

During my visit to New York last week, I thought there was like a crime scene or something. There was literally about 400 people cramming the street, limos, black escort SUVs, and literally papparazzi in the rafters above the theatre... all waiting to get a *glimpse* of Julia Roberts. Seriously, good luck.

On a side note: When there are floods and floods of people at the stage door after one of Julia's matinees, jump over to Avenue Q (next door) and it's an almost-automatic lotto win (because people are distracted).

Except for the fact that Denzel actually acknowledged the fact that he was the selling point of the show and was super gracious to all of the fans by staying and signing every single Playbill.

Julia knows she's the selling point and, in my experience, she signed every Playbill possible. It's hard....give her a break. After performing for 2 1/2 hours in a very, very tough play, it's great she comes out at all.

re: Julia Roberts Stage Door - Arrival Time?

I am not criticising her, but please dont try and say that there is not a BIG difference between her and Denzel.

I'm gonna guess that if you wait for Julia...you'll wind up missing Paul and Bradley.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

re: Julia Roberts Stage Door - Arrival Time?

I heard that only one side of the barricade is for people with playbill proof. Is it now all the barricades? Maybe I can get my playbill for later in the month early :)

re: Julia Roberts Stage Door - Arrival Time?

If you have Playbills, it's one side. If you're press/autograph collectors, it's the other side (last I saw.) You can catch Paul and Bradley, if you're lucky. Mantello's been giving them an extreme amount of notes, causing them to come out late.

re: Julia Roberts Stage Door - Arrival Time?

I happened to run into Bradley while walking down 45th Street last week. Such a nice man. He took the time to have a conversation with me and was more than gracious.

I didn't take up too much of his time as I hadn't seen the show.

I see it next Saturday, after it opens. So, I'm assuming there will be no notes for either Paul or Bradley.

So, I don't know what the chance of catching them will be.
