Julie Reiber as Brooklyn

I saw BKLYN in May and Julie Reiber made one hell of a Brooklyn. Sure, I was sad i didn't get to see Eden. But the I heard Julie sing "Once Upon A Time"...holy ****. She seemed to reach the higher notes more easily than Eden on cast recording. Oh, btw, why did they record it live? And has anyone seen the other u/s, Shelley..Thomas, is it? Please give a review!

i saw julie too, i preferred her to eden, she seemed to sing once upon a time, not scream it.

I like Eden more.

Yeah...why did they record BKLYN live? I was wondering about that too. It's strange.

I agree she has a wonderful voice and presence, and an unforgettable smile. However, she is an UNBELIEVABLE DIVA to work with. I know, personally.

re: Julie Reiber as Brooklyn

I saw Brooklyn last night for the first time and both male parts had understudies, but I thought they were great! My friend said he thought they sounded better than thoseo n the recording.

re: Julie Reiber as Brooklyn

The BKLYN recording is horrible. The sound engineers did a really terrible job of adjusting levels, blending, etc. When Eden sings "Once Upon a Time" live onstage, she doesn't sound screech-y at all, nor does she sound like she's struggling to hit those notes. The recording, however, makes it sound like she's REALLY struggling.

I always thought Julie Reiber would make an excellent Elphaba in Wicked

re: Julie Reiber as Brooklyn

I saw Will go one once for Taylor. He was very different then Lee or Kevin. Will looks really young so it's hard to imagine him as a dad to a 18 year old girl.

He is quite nice to look at!!! haha :) I could totally see him being in ASU.

Everytime that I've seen the show and I've seen it A LOT, Clevant is always there. He's a trooper. I went yesterday and even though it sounded like he was sick. I still enjoyed his performance so much.

Regarding Julie as Bklyn, I've seen her twice and I thought she was really good. I also saw her as Faith and didn't like her AT ALL in the role. She does something a little different to her Bklyn but I thought it worked.
It's worth a shot/ :) www.freephotoiPods.com/?r=15009978

re: Julie Reiber as Brooklyn

She is bossy and disrespectful, gives other actors notes, and has no idea how to behave professionally.

re: Julie Reiber as Brooklyn

She was the only reason I saw Brooklyn a second time.

I saw her name up on the lobby board and got my second row ticket 4 minutes before curtain (hard to believe, huh?).

Anyway, I liked her a LOT more than Eden. Someone else said this someone and I have to agree: Julie SANG the songs. She had some really sexy riffs, too. If you have a chance to see her before it closes, do it.

I also saw Will as Taylor that same day and thought he was fine...that's such a nothing role, I don't think there's anything to not like. It's like when people talk about how they can't see Peter Linz as Brian in Q...I saw him and it was fine. I's such a small part, I don't see how you would even critique it.

re: Julie Reiber as Brooklyn

I saw Julie twice as BKLYN, saw Shelley once as Paradice, also saw an understudy once for Faith, but not sure who it was. Julie was good both times, and the second time VERY good. She sounded great, different interp than Eden, and really great. it's just she was almost as tall as Kevin and as tall as Lee who were playing her dads. Kevin and she looked like lovers more than father daugher, it creeped me out. She and Lee I thought had more father daughter chemistry, but then I think Lee was a better Taylor, so that's not surprising.
Shelley was good as Paradice and she's so pretty and she hit ALL the notes. However, she just couldn't sell me on Paradice like Ramona does. She was NOT bad, she really is talented. (If i'd had nothing to compare her to I might feel differently). It's just not her role, she does not look like an aging street bred diva. And since she u/s both BKLYN and Paradice, I will give her a break on some of the jokes and stuff she rushed. She's got a fab voice.
I saw Horace once in for Cleavant and he was fabulous!
