Just Wondering

Hey. I'm fairly new to this site (I love it by the way!) and after a few weeks of reading posts, I was just wondering how many other people on the site are teenagers like me, still in high school, dreaming of being involved on Broadway, either on stage or backstage (like me). I envy those of you who I read about meeting stars and going to tons of shows, and even more so those of you involved in them, even if they're not on Broadway. I just wondered if there were other people out there who can only listen to their OBC recordings and wish they were as lucky. I hope this makes sense, as this is my first post.

Awww, hi stagemaster!

I'm not a teenager, but there are quite a few of them on the board, so you're certainly not alone.

As for dreaming about Broadway, read Making It on Broadway before you make any plans about running away to New York. I have a lot of missgivings about the book, but I'd still recommend it to anyone thinking of musical theatre as a career - in any capacity (but especially performing).

Thanks, BlueWizard. I'm starting to look into colleges and other stuff so I can use all the advice I can get. I'm glad to know I'm not alone!

Hey stagemaster!! I'm 18, but not still in high school. I don't act/sing/dance, though, so I can't really help you out there. But I did want to compliment you on your LOVELY icon. I'm a a HUGE Adam fan, as I'm sure you will soon see.

Thanks! I LOVE Adam. The icon isn't meant to be this big though. I still like it. I'm glad people are actually responding to my post! For some reason I thought no one would even notice it. It makes me feel loved.

I'm 17 and I also wish to be on Broadway. Alas, I cannot sing, and I want to perform in musicals too. *dramatic gesture*

Add me to the list of teens - I am 17, and though I would LOVE to be on broadway, I am just not cut out for it! But one can dream right...! I'm kinda new too, but in anycase, welcome!

I'm a teenager also. I'm almost 14, and I've wanted to be on Broadway since I can remember. I'd also like to direct, choreograph, or write a show.

Hi! I'm 18 and I perform in local and school musicals as often as I can, but will never ever be on broadway (for lack of talent, lol). I love going to see broadway shows! Welcome :)

Hey there. 18, senior, and am sadly not talented enough to ever go to Broadway but I take part in whatever theater is around school and the community. I am, though, in love with musicals and theater and extort Broadway tickets out of my parents when ever possible .... but usually use my income to support my addiction.

Hey! Glad to hear of all the teenagers around here, I'm 17 and am interested in musical theatre. Broadway is a dream of mine but it is too unstable for me to make a living off of. I think community theatre is best for my needs. I too haven't seen too many shows. Only CHICAGO, Les Mis, Cats, and Fosse. I spend about 90% of my internet time listening to showtunes and learning more about broadway. You are certainly not alone. Good luck on getting to Broadway!!

I'll be a junior in HS...but I don't want to be on broadway...I'm not talented enough so I want to be a doctor working in NYC and go see lots of shows.

Wow! I came home from a meeting for this drama camp I'm helping with and had like 16 new messages! Thank's for making me feel welcome. I don't have enough talent to be an actress on Broadway either. What I really want to do is technical theater, be on set crew or something like that. I really love being backstage (although I like performing in musicals too. I like to sing more than act).
